ASA's Most Popular Driver to Be Presented Again By Speed51.com
Short Track Website Also Hosting ARCA, Sunoco Super Series Awards
“I am happy we can partner with ASA on this award once again,” added Dillner. “They have gone through some tough times lately and we want everyone to know that we want the series to succeed and we know it will. We are big fans of ASA and their series is still one of the best in the country.”
Voting for the ASA Most Popular driver will take place from now until November 1st. The announcement will be made at the ASA National Tour banquet in January. You can vote for your favorite ASA driver by either going directly to speed51.com or by looking for the Most Popular link on asaracing.com.
Mike Garvey captured the ASA most Popular Driver Award in 2003.
Voting for the prestigious award recently began on Speed51.com. Fans are encouraged to vote as often as they like, but they can only vote once per day. A name and valid email address are required to vote.
“In our first couple years of doing this, Butch Miller (2002 recipient) and Mike Garvey (2003 recipient) have said it was one of the greatest honors they have ever had the privilege to receive," said speed51.com editor and SPEED Channel commentator Bob Dillner. "What makes it so special is the fact that the fans decide it. Neither us, nor the series have any say in the matter. That’s pretty bad to the bone. I remember, as a kid, before I started working in the business, I had many favorites I’d root for every week from the grandstands and on TV. Too bad they didn’t have this award while I was a kid because guys like Mike Eddy (ASA), Charlie Jarzombek (Modifieds) would have won.”
Once again, speed51.com will award the winner a cash prize and a new website design, which will be hosted by Speed51.com. Butch Miller won the inaugural ASA Most Popular Driver in 2002, while Mike Garvey earned the honor in 2003. This year we are happy to announce the cash prize portion of the winning package has increased to $1,000.
For the third-straight year, speed51.com, one of the web's most popular racing sites, will team up with the American Speed Association to find the series' Most Popular Driver via online voting by fans and competitors.
Butch Miller is always one of the favorites for the MPD award, but will have stiff competition in 04.
