Stephen Nasse Enters World Series of Asphalt Racing at New Smyrna Speedway

Two-Time Winner in 2009 Ready for More Victories and Title Shot in 2010 February Races

14-year-old Stephen Nasse is once again heading back to the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).  It’s an event where he found himself in victory lane twice last year.  The Pinellas Park, Florida, driver is now looking to park his McGunegill powered Crate Late Model at the front of the field as many times as possible during the six nights of racing for the ASA-type Crate Late Models. 

Nasse will have Jerrad Warren back for a second year as the crew chief of his #51 Port City Racecars chassis for the 2010 season.  Warren came on board to lead the team in their run at the 2009 ASA Late Model Series title. 

Nasse made his first Super Late Model start this past weekend at New Smyrna Speedway in his All American Concrete #51.

“Running the Super this past weekend was great,” said Nasse.  “It will definitely be helpful if we decide to run it at Speedweeks but mostly just the seat time is crucial.  We’re mostly just planning to run the crate car at New Smyrna, which is what I’m most comfortable in, but the extra time on the track never hurts to try and stay on top of things.”

Although the Super Late Models and the Crate Late Models might look similar from the stands, they are two very different machines.

“You have to get in the gas a little quicker in the crates,” said Nasse.  “And they don’t have as much power but it shouldn’t be a problem going from the Super car back to the crate and I’m sure we’ll be good.”

Stephen Nasse is making his way to Speedweeks 2010 in New Smyrna, Florida, to pick up right where he left off in Speedweeks 2009.

“Hopefully we can build on all of the success we had last year,” explained Nasse.  “I won on the last night last year so we ended Speedweeks last year on top and we’re going to try and keep it that way this year and start it back up with a win.”
