There are some times of the year in racing where the atmosphere around a racetrack is just magical – May in Indianapolis, the time around the 24 Hours of LeMans in France or the week of the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa are a few that stand out. In the world of asphalt short track racing, there are a few major times on the calendar as well – with the 10 days that make up the annual World Series of Asphalt Short Track Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) right up there among the most memorable times of the season.
Unfortunately, not everyone can experience the magic of New Smyrna Speedweeks in person. Whether they are stuck up north manning a snowplow, back home watching the kids or putting in their 40-plus hour week or even tied up in the NASCAR garages of nearby Daytona International Speedway, some folks just have other commitments that prevent them from sitting in the stands or milling the pits at New Smyrna.

In addition, Speed 51 Radio on RaceTalkRadio.com will feature special radio programming during the week including shows jammed full of driver interviews and live coverage of several key races during the week, including the Pete Orr Memorial 100-lap Super Late Model race and the 100-lap Richie Evans Memorial Tour-Type Modified feature.

The 44th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing kicks off with a practice day on Thursday, February 4th, while the on-track feature action officially starts on Friday, February 5th. Super Late Models, Tour-Type Modifieds, Florida (Limited) Late Models, Crate/ASA Late Models, Trucks, Winged Sprint Cars and more headline the action for nine straight nights through Saturday, February 13th. The Speedweeks action will culminate in the Richie Evans Memorial 100 Tour-Type Modified event on Friday, February 12th and the Pete Orr Memorial Super Late Model event on Saturday the 13th.
