"Alabama Posse" To Take on Montgomery Motor Speedway
GARC Teammates Grill & Bolen Take On Robbins & Bonnett in 2010
Track PR Report
Montgomery Motor Speedway has had many outstanding race drivers compete at the famous ½ mile speedplant.  Names like Allison, Bonnett, Pearson, Wallace, Sanders, Ridley, Couch, Stricklin, Grissom and many others have made their way around the track.  Some of those drivers were part of names like Alabama Gang and Georgia Gang who have given race fans many memories.

But that was then and this is now.

In 2010, there will be a New Sheriff in town, who could be considered the best short-track Late Model driver in Alabama.  And he is not coming alone.   That new Sheriff is Augie Grill of Hayden, Al. and he is bringing “The Alabama Posse” with him to clean up on all comers with their Grand American Race Cars.

"You tell them I'm coming, and hell's coming with me"...to quote Kurt Russell (Wyatt Earp) in Tombstone,” said Grill from the GARC shop in Dolomite, Al.   All four members of the posse have declared Montgomery Motor Speedway “as their territory”. “Anyone trying to leave with our stash of cash will have to deal with us first,” commented Grill.

Joining Grill’s GARC, ARP, Jani King Chevrolet will be his closest sidekick, John Bolen, Jasper, Al.  Bolen drives the Gateway Gaming/Creekside Entertainment/GARC Chevrolet.  Riding “shotgun” with the posse will be Montgomery, Al’s favorite son, Hunter Robbins with his River Region Towing/ATCO Transmissions/Robbins Transmission Chevrolet.

Adding to this trio will be one of the most famous names in Alabama racing, Bonnett.  Justin Bonnett, grandson of the late Neil Bonnett, is moving up from the Mini-Stock ranks, to join the posse with his new GARC Late Model.

Grill has had outstanding runs in Late Model ranks over the past few years, winning the prestigious Snowball Derby back-to-back in 2007-2008, winning the SAS Rattler twice, 2007 and 2009, recently winning the Snowflake event at the 42nd Snowball Derby, winning the final Show Me The Money race at Montgomery in 2009 and taking home the series point championship.  Bolen is moving up in Late Model racing rapidly gaining much respect from all competitors.  In 2009 he won a Show Me The Money race, finished second to Grill in the 100-lap Snowflake event and finished fifth in the Snowball Derby.  The only driver to record two top five finishes at the Derby in 2009.  Robbins, has great following from his home town supporters and at 18 years is way ahead of others in experience. At 14 years he was the youngest driver to ever win the Snowflake event during 2005 Snowball Derby week. He also won a Show Me The Money race in 2009 and finished fifth in the Snowball Derby Snowflake event behind Grill and Bolen.  The Bonnett name solidifies the Posse and with Grill as its mentor will quickly add to the prestige of this NEW Alabama group of drivers.

An opening event Media Day will be held on March 12, followed by an open practice. Another open practice will be on March 13.  Join the crowd at Montgomery Motor Speedway on March 20 for the 2010 opening event.  Be a part of history and watch the “Alabama Posse” make their TEAM debut on March 20.
(Top to Bottom) Augie Grill, John Bolen (leading the parade) and Hunter Robbins are all making plans to race at Montgomery in 2010.
