Bauknecht Holds Off Lichtfield In
MASCS At Oktoberfest At LaCrosse
Underdog Scores a Big Victory
By Gregg Paul

Tyler Bauknecht is seemingly the prototypical underdog.  His race team consists of only his parents and himself. Despite feeling shorthanded compared to the other race teams in the Mid American Stock Car Series, Bauknecht found a way to rise to the occasion as he captures the victory in the MASCS feature at Oktoberfest.

“I know we had a lot of good cars in the field,” said Bauknecht.  “We were a little off in practice and all it took was some minor adjustments and the car was pretty good.  I’ve been coming here for six or seven years and every time I see the young kids win it’s like ‘Man I hope one day I’m out here on this platform’ it’s a dream come true.”

Bauknecht got the jump from his front row starting position and was never really challenged.  Mike Lichtfield worked his way into second place and briefly made a run before Bauknecht pulled away.

James Swan, still driving the car he rolled over at Madison and rolled to a victory at Rockford in successive weeks, rolled his way into a third place finish.  Adam Bendzick finished in fourth place, while Bobby Gutknecht capped off his career by coming home in fifth place.
