Championship Chase Heats Up Saturday at Gresham
Starting Spot in Pro Late Model World Crown Race Up for Grabs
Track PR Report
The action will be fast and furious as drivers try to improve their positions in the Hoosier Tire Championship Chase at Gresham Motorsports Park Saturday, April 17.

Battles in the Pro Late Model, Outlaw Late Model, Renegade Street Stock, Mini Stock and Truck divisions will be highlighted on the full racing card. Points accrued in Saturday's races will go toward driver's season totals with a champion to be crowned in each division prior to the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park on Sunday, November 14.

Saturday's 100-lap Pro Late Model feature will have a double significance for drivers in that division. First, it will mark the division's initial 2010 appearance at GMP, so a good run Saturday will give them quick start toward the season title.

Additionally, a win this Saturday will automatically guarantee that driver and team a spot in the Pro Late Model 150-lap main event portion of the World Crown 300 weekend on Saturday, November 13.
Some drivers already have a leg up in their respective point's battles.

By virtue of his back-to-back wins in the first two GMP events of the season, Jason Bates holds a 40-point lead over Mike Davidson in the Outlaw Late Model division. Meanwhile, Doug Sexton has a commanding early-season lead in the Renegade Division Hoosier Tire Championship Chase. Sexton holds a 300-165 point lead over GMP's most recent Renegade feature winner - Shawn Campbell.

The Truck Division will make its second GMP appearance this Saturday. Joel Townsend won the March 13 and grabbed the Hoosier Tire Championship Chase season points lead by a slight 155-145 margin over Brandon Franklin. The Mini-Stocks will also be making their second Gresham Motorsports Park appearance on Saturday with Spanky Hicks leading B.J. Thrasher and Ken Candiotti, Sr. in the season title battle.

Division winners of the 2010 Hoosier Tire Championship Chase will receive a Hoosier Racing Jacket and a Trophy to signify their achievement. A cash point fund - based on tire sales at Gresham Motorsports Park throughout the season - has also been established and will be distributed to the division winners at season's end.

In addition to Saturday's racing action at GMP, it will be Year One Cruise Night as some of the coolest muscle cars, hot rods, classics and trucks hold parade laps during intermission.

Saturday's Gresham Motorsports Park speedtacular will also include the debut of the Funopolis FanTastic Challenge - where adult fans selected in a drawing that evening will be able to race a Funopolis Go Kart for prizes, free Funopolis discount coupons and free GMP race tickets during intermission. Saturday's lucky race winner will also earn a chance to drive in the championship round of the Funopolis FanTastic Challenge at the 27th-annual World Crown 300 at GMP November 11-14, 2010.

Adult Grandstand and Trackside General Admission Tickets for the action-packed April 17 GMP show are just $20, Seniors and Active Military Personnel are $18 while Children 6-12 are $10. Children 5 and under will be admitted free and, as always, parking is free.
