Modifieds to Return to Star Speedway in 2011
Track Will Host an Open Show on June 4th
Track PR Report
The Star Speedway will reopen in 2011, and on June 4 the Epping, New Hampshire oval is planning to play host to a "Tour-Type Modified Open" event that will bring some of the best Modified drivers to the quarter-mile.
Many of the details are still not finalized, but the race planned would bring back many of the drivers who competed in open shows at the track in 2008, for a 125-lap race, with profits from the event going towards a point fund payout for the '08 series.
Drivers such as nine-time NASCAR Champion Mike Stefanik, reigning two-time Valenti Modified Racing Series Champion Jon McKennedy and Whelen Southern Modified Tour standout Andy Seuss have all expressed interest in this event.
A still to be named Hoosier Tire rule is expected to be in effect, with rules similar to other "open" events.
The recent Modified events at Star have produced some of the best Modified racing, and some very talented fields of drivers in recent years. With both Whelen Tours and the VMRS not scheduled to compete on that weekend a strong field of cars is expected.
Pending sponsorship, the race is expected to carry a $5,000 winners share and a purse at or near $25,000, with additional awards planned.
More details will be released in January, as the Star Speedway moves forward with weekly Modified racing, and now an open show at a track that nearly all Modified drivers look forward to competing at.

Modifieds will return to Star Speedway in 2011.
