US Legends International Portion Of GMP Opener Soaked
Three Days of Rains Wash Out Legends Part of Opening Weekend
Track PR Report

Heavy rains over the past three days have forced the cancellation of the US Legends International portion of the Gresham Motorsports Park season-opening event this Saturday.

The remainder of the racing spectacular - the Champion Racing Association (CRA) 125-lap Super Late Model event along with feature events in the Outlaw Late Model, Trucks and Renegade Street Stocks - will still be held beginning with rotating practice Saturday morning.

"The Legends and Bandoleros were scheduled to pit in our Upper Pit Area outside the track in Turns 1-2," said GMP General Manager Dan Elliott. "That area is gravel and it took on quite a bit of water because of the rain. It wouldn't be fair to ask them to put their equipment up there and have to work in those kind of conditions. We apologize that we had to cancel this portion of our season-opening program and we're looking forward to having the US Legends International cars here at GMP later this season."

A total of 28 Super Late Model teams and drivers have already entered Saturday's 125-lap CRA main event. Heading the list of CRA stars at GMP Saturday will be 2009 CRA champion Johnny Van Doorn. Also pre-entered in Saturday's 125-lap headliner are Johanna Long, Cale Gale, Eddie Van Meter, Mike Garvey, Chase Elliott, Jeff Fultz, Scott Hantz, Ryan Crane, Augie Grill, Russell Fleeman and Casey Roderick.

Tickets for Saturday's 2010 season-opening event at Gresham Motorsports Park are available on line at and at the Gresham Motorsports Park at-track Administrative Offices today from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Advance Ticket Phone Orders are also available by calling 706-367-9461 during regular business hours.
