Track PR Report
This Friday (August 6), Fort Wayne ’s Baer Field Speedway will host the biggest event of the 2010 season with the running of the 13th annual “International Gold Cup” presented by Navistar and International Truck Development and Design Center .

The racing highlight of the evening will be the “Gold Cup 100”, a 100-lap Feature for the Late Model stock cars of the SuperPro Series presented by series sponsor Wildwood Engineering. 2008 “Gold Cup” winner Tommy Cook will lead an all-star field of more than 20 drivers looking to put their name on the prestigious winners list. Expected entries include 2010 Baer Field Super Pro winner Jason Dietsch; 2010 Stan Perry memorial winner Derek Griffin; 16-year old female sensation Reagan May; and Fort Wayne area drivers Mike Kugler, Al Cook, Jr., Kevin Todd, Justin Mattson, Eric Barcus,  Royce Mason II, plus many others.

The racing program will also feature a “Super Show” of Baer Field Speedway NAPA Late Models, open-wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Front Wheel Drives. In the interest of time and the desire to have everyone on their way home at a reasonable hour, all preliminary races will be scrapped so fans can enjoy over 200 laps of Feature racing.

Always a fan-favorite, the “Mad Bomber” will be on hand with the biggest FIREWORKS extravaganza in Speedway history! The event will also feature a collector car show and parade and the annual “Truck Parade” featuring over-the-road and special US Military vehicles all designed and tested from the local Navistar facilities here in Fort Wayne!

As an extra added attraction, there will be a special celebrity “grudge race” between the on-air personalities of U.S. 93.3 FM and the Sports Department of NewsChannel 15. Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will also be on hand to address the fans and assembled Navistar employees and serve as Honorary Starter for the evening’s events. Mayor Henry has also been invited to participate in the celebrity race, but his entry has not been confirmed at this time.

Spectator gates will open at 3:00; with qualifying at 4:30; and the pre-race ceremonies starting at 7:00; with RACING to follow at 7:20! Adult admission for this show will be $18. All kids 12-and-under will be admitted FREE courtesy of Navistar and there is always plenty of FREE PARKING!
