Maine Racing Legend Dick Wolstenhulme Returns to Competition at the Famed Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
77-Year-Old Legend Will take Part in Thursday Thunder Series
Team PR Report

2004 Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee Dick “Iron Man” Wolstenhulme is preparing to return to the racetrack in the 2010 Thursday Thunder Mad Bomber Varsity Division at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine starting June 17 for his first scheduled race since 1985. At 77 years old, he hopes to be the oldest competitor and Feature Winner in the Speedway's history.

Much of Wolstenhulme's fame came from running in the top divisions at Beech Ridge and other regional tracks in the 60's and 70's. He is a 10 time track champion in various divisions and is currently second on the all-time list in Beech Ridge's history.

Ricci Motorsports has teamed up with Wolstenhulme to bring the “Iron Man” back to his competitive roots. Driving a replica paint scheme of the red #99 Yankee Trader that was a staple in the memories of many during his years racing at the 1/3 mile track, Wolstenhulme will be running as a teammate to Adam Ricci, last years division Champion.

With the “Iron Man” back behind the wheel, it opens up a rich history of racing in Maine to a new generation and a chance for him to add to his legacy and accomplishments to an already storied career. With a competitive car, the drive to still race and a racing history only many could dream about, the 2010 season may just get him one step closer to a record tying 12th championship.

Opening Night for Thursday Thunder is June 17th, racing starts at 7:00 pm. Wolstenhulme will be on hand for the afternoon practices starting at 3 pm.
