The CRA Super Series has announced the special Bonuses and Awards posted for SpeedFest 2010, the traditional season opening North-South Super Late Model battle that will be held at Lanier National Speedway on January 29th, 30th and 31st. To date 32 teams have already filed entries for the event.
The biggest bonus for the event will be the WearCrete Racing Performance Award, that was suppose to include the Winchester 400 last year on October 18th at Winchester Speedway and the CRA All American 400 event in Nashville, it will now include the SpeedFest 2010 event at Lanier, since the Nashville event was canceled. The WearCrete Racing Performance Award will be an $800 cash bonus that will be awarded to the driver with the best overall finishes between the Winchester 400 and the SpeedFest 2010 event.
NASCAR Star Kyle Busch, the SpeedFest 2009 winner, comes into the SpeedFest event as the favorite to receive the WearCrete Racing Performance Award after winning the Winchester 400. Other drivers entered for SpeedFest who competed in the Winchester 400 include Jason Dietsch who finished fourth in the 400, Chase Elliott who finished eighth, Jeff Fultz who finished 14th, Nick Lay who finished 16th, John VanDoorn who finished 23rd, Stanley Smith who finished 25th, Scott Hantz who finished 26th and Johanna Long who finished 31st.
Longtime Southern late model supporter Lynch Tree Service has put up a $100 cash bonus for the Lynch Tree Service Fast Qualifier Award. Five Star Racecar Bodies will award two Product Certificates for a free nosepiece as Hard Luck Awards and award one free nosepiece as a Hardcharger Award. VDL Fuel Systems will award a $100 Product Certificate to the driver turning the fastest lap during the 250 lap SpeedFest 2010.
The CRA portion of SpeedFest 2010 will be 250 laps with a break at lap 125 for teams to work on their cars and change tires. It will be an eight tire event. The leader at lap 125 will receive a $2000 bonus, the second place driver $1000, third place will receive $750, fourth place $500 and fifth place $250. The halfway leader will then draw for an invert for the start of the second half, the invert could be a three to a possible six. The winner of the event will receive $8000. The 150 lap Pro Late Model event will pay $3000 to win. There will be a $10,000 bonus if a driver can win both events!
There will be an open practice on Friday, January 29th. Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday, January 30th. The late model feature events will be ran on Sunday, January 31st starting at 2pm. More information on the event and information on the Pro Late Model race are available at www.lanierspeedway.com.
