Kyle Brinkmann and Dustin Karl led the 13-truck field to the green for the first ever Oktoberfest Championship for the ASA OREGON Midwest Truck Tour. Rick Corso took the early lead, but it was not long before Bobby Wilberg, in a brand new Lefthander Chassis, assumed the lead, and eventually the victory.
The ASAMTT raced in conjunction with the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net. Going into the final event of the season, one point separated brothers, Jerry and John Wood, with Jerry in the lead.
The #63 of Bill Collins and the #73 of Jerry Wood were battling side-by-side for second with Wilberg patiently waiting to make his move. Wood took over the second spot with Wilberg following right behind in third.
The top three began to pull away from the rest of the field as Jerry Wood took to the inside of Corso in pursuit of the lead. Before Wood could make his move, Wilberg went to the outside and took over the second spot. He continued to make his move and passed the #88 of Corso on the outside for the lead with only five laps to go.
Meanwhile, the #72 of John Wood caught up to his brother Jerry and Rick Corso. He was unable to get around Corso for the third spot, and ended up fourth, but it was not enough to take over the point lead from older brother, Jerry.
Jerry Wood became the first ever ASA OREGON Midwest Truck Tour Champion, eleven points ahead of his brother John Wood. The two dominated the season winning all but this final event between the two of them.
