2005 ARCA/REMAX series runner up and rookie of the year, Joey Miller has proven his skill in various venues of motorsports racing. In 2010 Miller will add the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour to his already impressive resume'.
"The addition of the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour will be a great way to bring low cost racing back to the Midwestern tracks with a stellar field of talented drivers at each race. Some of the best racers in the country etch there name in stone while driving these types of cars because they can afford to keep racing in these cars. Drivers can shine in front of large crowds while racing in conjunction with the Super Late Models on many occasions," stated the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran.
The Joey Miller Racing built 1988 Monte Carlo will be powered by a 355 Chevy built by Tesar Engineering. Along with Joey's knowledge, experience and success over the past several years he hopes to have the tools in place to win a few races and be a championship contender.
"It's not going to be easy because you will see a lot of drivers like myself decide to run these cars and the competition will be extremely tough but very exciting to watch as a fan," said Miller.
Joey commended the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour officials for developing a traveling series for these types of cars. Miller believes that it will bring a resurgence of car counts at local tracks because it will bring value back to the sportsman division providing recognition for tracks and drivers. "They are looking out for the local tracks and at the same time, providing a great avenue for drivers to get recognized regionally," added Miller.
While some may question why a successful driver like Miller would run a touring sportsman division, ASAMT Vice President Steve Einhaus appreciates the leadership that Miller will bring to the Tour.
"Joey's presence in the series will encourage drivers of all calibers who are unable to compete in other divisions to race in an affordable touring sportsman series. We are going to see some stars of the past racing in this division and we will be depending on these guys to develop the young guns along the way."
Joey Miller will be sponsored by Country Joe Homes - www.countryjoehomes.com, Cedarview Electric - www.cedarviewelectric.com, Wagner Sod Company - www.wagnersod.com, Aspen Electric, and DC Painting
