The ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour was in Elko, Minnesota tonight at Elko Speedway for a 39-lap sportsman feature. Twenty-seven sportsman drivers were on hand for the event. Brent Kane took the top qualifying position followed by Chris Marek and Ted Reuvers. Conrad Jorgenson and Brent Kane each took home heat race victories.
After the invert, Scott King and Kyle Kirberger were set to lead the 27-car field to the green for the start of the 39-lap feature. However just as the race was about to get under way, rain moved into the area. In hopes that the rain would pass, Elko track officials decided to have the sportsman drivers take several pace laps in an attempt to keep the track as dry as possible. However the rain won and washed out the remainder of the night's events.
ASAMT officials are working with Elko track officials to reschedule or add the event to another already scheduled event. Tonight's pit passes will be valid at the rescheduled event if accompanied by tonight's wristband. More information will be available at www.asamidwesttour.com as it become available.
The next event for the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour is this Tuesday, June 29th as they compete in conjunction with the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net at Madison International Speedway for "The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge 100" featuring Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart.
