For many, Memorial Day Weekend is the official kickoff to summer. Many ASA Member Tracks and sanctioned series will be in action this weekend.
Here is a look at what is happening in ASA this weekend.
ASA PRO AUTO SPORTS
(Inde Motorsports Ranch, Wilcox, AZ)
The 2.75-mile road course will host the ASA PRO AUTO SPORTS this weekend with three days of racing action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After Saturday's racing action, there will be a dinner and wine tasting. Racing action will be going on throughout each day.
ASA INTERSTATE RACING ASSOCIATION SPRINT CAR SERIES
(Hartford Motor Speedway, Hartford, MI & Wilmot Raceway, Wilmot, WI)
Two states in two days will highlight the weekend action for the ASA IRA Winged Sprint Car Series. On Friday, May 28th, they will visit Hartford Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Hartford, MI and on Saturday, May 29th, they will compete at Wilmot Raceway, an ASA Member Track in Wilmot, WI.
ASA MEMBER TRACKS
Will return to action on Friday, June 4th with the PASS Super Late Models in a 150-lap feature race.
BIG COUNTRY SPEEDWAY
Big Country Speedway will celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with a Sunday night racing event starting at 6 p.m. The Mod Coupes, Grand American Mod, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Micro Sprints, Mini Sprints, and Mini Cups will all be in action.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY
(Corpus Christi, TX)
The Bombers, Front Runners, Sport Mods, Super Street, Texas Thunders will be in action this Saturday night. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.
DELLS RACEWAY PARK
(Wisconsin Dells, WI)
It will be a busy Memorial Day Weekend as they host two great nights of excitement. On Saturday, May 29th, its Dells Duel Part 1 with the Mid-American Stock Cars, Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks & Bandits in action starting at 6:30 p.m. Then on Sunday, May 30th, DRP will be hosting Memorial Day Mayhem with Bus Races, Trailer Races, Steel Wall Crash, Crane Drop and more! Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Kids Bus Rides at 6:00 p.m. with the event starting at 6:30 p.m.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY
The Florida All-Stars Tour Late Models will be at Desoto this Saturday night. They will be competing in a 100-lap feature event. The Truck Series, Pure Stocks, Bombers, Magic 4's, Street Stocks and Flyin 4's will also be in action. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00 p.m.
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY
The Late Models will highlight the racing action this Saturday night with a 50-lap feature on the 4/10-mile oval. The Chargers, Bombers, Street Stocks and 4-cylinders will also be in action. Plus, bike racing for the kids. Racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK
ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, May 29, 2010. Action for Racecar Engineering Late Models, Limited Late Models, Gagel's Auto Parts Open Wheel Modifieds, Precision Kia Street Stocks and Outlaw 4s will fill the bill.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY
Grays Harbor will be hosting two exciting nights of racing action this weekend with the ASCS Northwest Region Sprint Tour & Midgets on Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with racing around 6:30 p.m. on both nights.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY
IRA Sprint Cars featured at Hartford Motor Speedway. General Admission $20.00 kids 10 and under free with paid adult. General admission gates open at 6 pm, hot laps for UMP Late Models, and Pure Stocks, racing begins at 8 pm.
Don't miss this red hot action this Saturday night with a Sportsman 50-lap sizzler! Plus the Grand American Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Legends will also be in action. Racing starts at 6 p.m. sharp.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Another Saturday night of action located south of Chicago. Six divisions will be in action this Saturday night. The Late Models, Limited Late Models, Turbo Stox, Legends, Pure Stocks and Bandoleros will all be in action. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the first race at 7:00 p.m.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY
Week two of the chase will feature Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Chargers along with the Baby Grands. "The Baby Grands have always been a fan favorite here, and have always put on a great show," said track manager Brennon Willard. The last Baby Grand Champion at the speedway was Carl Edwards in 2002, before moving on to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2003. The Carget Motors Dash for Cash, a 6 car, 5 lap, winner take all "Shootout" for the top 6 qualifiers out of the heat race is back for the rest of the season. The Carget Motors Dash for Cash will feature a different division each week, with the Modifieds getting their shot this week for the extra money. "We are very excited to have this for the rest of the season", said Willard. "It is great to have a local business like Carget give the both the racers and fans something exciting like this each week." The regular schedule will resume this week with gates opening at 5:00, hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:30. Grandstand tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for juniors (ages 11-15) and free for kids 10 and under. Admission to the Budweiser Wild Side is $12 for adults, $7 for juniors and free for kids 10 and under. There is a $2 military and senior citizen discount for seniors 62 and over.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY
Lonesome Pine Raceway will be off May 29th in observance of Memorial Day Weekend but will be back in action on June 5th with the ISCARS DASH Touring Sanctioned by ASA cars.
MADISON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Action goes under the lights this Friday and Saturday at Madison International Speedway with all five weekly divisions on the track on Friday night followed by the Night of Destruction on Saturday. The Night of Destruction will feature a 300 lap four cylinder enduro on the "Ring of Fire" along with thrilling tag, train, gauntlet, and trailer races. Anything goes on the Night of Destruction!!!
Two big events will highlight the Memorial Day action at Meridian Speedway. On Saturday, May 29th the action will be highlighted with the Sean Miller Modified 40 and the LeeRoy Nelson Pro-4 40 plus Dominos Legends, Mini Stocks and Thunderdogs plus bicycle races for the kids. On Monday, May 31st the Bill Crow 50 for the Late Models and the Bob Tom Naylor 50 for the Sprint Cars along wit h the Street Stocks and Hornets will highlight the action. Both nights, gates open at 4:00 p.m. with racing starting at 6:30 p.m.
The 2010 season opens for Norway Speedway this Saturday afternoon. The Late Models, Super Stocks, 4-cylinders and Slammers will be in action. Gates open at noon and racing will get underway at 2 p.m.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY
(San Bernardino, CA)
Best in the West Racing returns on Saturday, June 5th with Super Late Models, Pony Stocks, Stock Car USA, Dwarf Cars, Figure 8's and Go-Kars in action.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY
(North Wichita Falls, TX)
Racing action returns on Saturday, June 5th as Red River Speedway takes this weekend off to celebrate Memorial Day.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS
(West Valley City, UT)
RMR will have racing action on Monday, May 31st with the Young Chevrolet 100 for Western States Sprint Cars. Plus the USAC Sprint Cars, Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models, Figure 8's and Western States Figure 8 Trains, and Pro Trucks will be in action. Gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
SHANGRI LA II MOTOR SPEEDWAY
(Tioga Center, NY)
Shangri-La II Motor Speedway has added a post-race party with the southern rock band Iron Horse from Ithaca to the lineup for this Sunday's "Memorial Day Madness" event at the half-mile concrete oval. Adult admission to both the race and the party remains at the regular price of $12. The five-class ASA Member Track racing program starts at 3:00 p.m., with Iron Horse scheduled to perform on the grounds adjacent to the speedway after the final victory lane ceremonies, which should be approximately 7:00 p.m. The party, with food and beverages available, will last through the evening.
The John Carroll Classic presented by IRI will highlight the racing action this Saturday night. Foothills Toyota Tundra Racing Series - Round 7 with Fire Breathing Sprint Cars and Outlaw Hornets gets underway at 7 p.m. There is also a pre-race concert by Dryver at 5 p.m.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY
The Art Pollard Memorial Pro Stock 50 will be the feature event this Saturday night. Super 4's, Dwarfs, Mini Stocks and a Destruction Derby will also be in action. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m.
STATE PARK SPEEDWAY
Returns to action on Thursday, June 10th with a 100-lap Super Late Model feature.
Thunderhill Raceway will be back on Saturday, June 5th. with the Kyle Chamber of Commerce Night at the Races.
TUCSON RACEWAY PARK
Next event is Saturday, June 5th with Report Card Night.
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action this Saturday May 29th and will host Armed Forces Appreciation Night featuring four divisions of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action. The night will honor those that serve or have served our country and their dependents. All active, retired, Guard or Reserve personnel and their dependents will be admitted for $5 with proper military I.D. See the Victory Lap Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifies and the Collision One Limited Stock divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing!
North vs. South Sprint Shootout with the ASA IRA Outlaw Sprints on Saturday. The Street Stocks and Mini-Sprints will also be in action. Pits open at 2 p.m. with grandstands at 4 p.m.
