Member Tracks and Tours Are Ready to Race This Week

It is another busy week for ASA Member Tracks and sanctioned series.  Three ASA Member Tracks will have their season openers with State Park Speedway on Thursday, Lebanon I-44 Speedway on Saturday and Madison International Speedway on Sunday.  Along with the ASA Northwest Sprint Car Racing Association Sprint Car Series season opener on Saturday night.

Here is a look at what is happening in ASA this weekend.


(Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Irwindale, CA)

After a short break, the fast trucks of the ASA Truck Series will be in action this Saturday night in Irwindale.  Already, there are 16 trucks pre-entered for this event.  Dylan Kwasniewski will be going for his third win in a row.

(Douglas County Speedway, Roseburg, OR)

The fast 750 horsepower asphalt winged sprints will kick off their 2010 season this Saturday night in Roseburg, OR.  Expect seeing some high flying action and who knows, maybe a new track record will be set as well

(Rice Lake Speedway, Rice Lake, WI)

The IRA Sprint cars will head north to Rice Lake Speedway this Saturday night.  The fast 410 Winged Sprints will highlight a great evening of racing with Rice Lake's five weekly divisions also competing.


(Elon, NC)

It's "May Daze" this Friday night with the Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Mini-Stocks and Extremes in action.  The Mini-Stocks will have a 30-lap feature with $1,000 up for grabs where the winner will take home $350 and its $50 to start.  Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.

(Cheyenne, WY)

Another great evening of racing is on tap this Saturday night as the Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mod 4's, Micro Sprints, Warriors, High Plain Mods, and Dwarf cars will be in action.  Racing gets underway at 6:00 p.m.

(Corpus Christi, TX)

The Bombers, Front Runners, Sport Mods, Super Street, Texas Thunders will be in action this Saturday night.  Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.

(Wisconsin Dells, WI)

It's Automotion in the Dells this Saturday night.  There will be an Automotion Car Parade and Burnout Contest along with the Grand National Vintage Cars.  The Late Models, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Bandits and Six Shooters will be competing on the fast 1/3-mile oval.  Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, Fan Gates at 4:00 PM, Qualifying at 4:30 PM, and Green Flags fly at 6:30 PM.

(Bradenton, FL)

The 5th Annual Richie "POPS" Thorbin Memorial highlights the action this Saturday night.  The Pure Stocks, Flyin' 4's, Magic 4's, Bombers, Open Wheel Modifieds, and Trophy Dash Cars will be action.  And if that is not all, there will be a wedding during intermission.  Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00 p.m.

(Dillon, SC)

Five divisions will highlight the racing action this Saturday night.  The Super Trucks, Chargers, Street Stocks, 4-cylinder, and Jr. Bomber will be in action.  The Super Trucks will cap off the night with a 50-lap feature.  Racing begins at 8:00 p.m.

(Tampa, FL)

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Double features for East Bay Sprints will headline the card with Limited Late Models, Precision Kia Street Stocks, Outlaw 4s, 4 Cylinder Bombers and Florida Old Time Modifieds.

Elma, WA

Grays Harbor Raceway the fast 3/8's clay oval ASA Member Track, located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, Washington, will be in action again this Saturday Night.  This week the Sprints, Modifieds, and Midgets will be in action.  But, that is not all!!!  Along with the racing action, Mr. Dizzy & The Crusher Pyramid & Car Domino Jumps will make this an entertaining evening of racing and wild action.

(Hartford, MI)

ASA passes along its condolences to the Borden family on the lost of a family member this week.  With this sad news, the racing action for this Friday night has been cancelled.  Racing will return next Friday night.

(Littleton, CO)

It's Military Appreciation Night this Saturday night.  Show your active military ID for 1/2 price grandstand admission.  The United States Late Model Association will be competing this Saturday night along with the Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Hornets and Mini Sprints.

(Schererville, IN)

Another Saturday night of action located south of Chicago. Six divisions will be in action this Saturday night.  The Late Models, Limited Late Models, Turbo Stox, Legends, Pure Stocks and Bandoleros will all be in action.  Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the first race at 7:00 p.m.

(Lebanon, MO)

Hopefully Mother Nature won't stop us this week, but...Asphalt racing returns for the first time since 2002!!!  I-44 Speedway has a complete new look to the 27 year old facility with new seats, restrooms, and new Asphalt on both the track and entrance to the racetrack. The new asphalt surface has been tested the last two weeks, and has already produced very fast and close racing.  This will be the first week of the 2010 Monster Energy Chase for the I-44 Speedway Cup as the Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Bombers, and Chargers all start their season on the asphalt high banks.  The gates will open to the racetrack at 4:00 Saturday afternoon for a free pre-race concert, with hot laps starting at 6:30, and a special opening ceremony at 7:15. The races will still start at the same starting time as always of 7:30.  Grandstand admission will be $10 for adults, $6 for juniors ages 11-16, and free for kids 10 and under. The Budweiser Wild Side (Tier Parking), one of the famous features of the speedway is back. Fans are welcome to come and "tail gate" for $12 for adults, $7 for juniors, and kids 10 and under free. (Coeburn, VA)

Lonesome Pine Raceway, located in Coeburn, VA will be hosting the Diamond Lawn Service Legends Race with a $300 winner's purse on Sat,  May 22, 2010.  Second place will pay $150, with third place paying $100.  Drivers will be paid all the way through the field.  This will be a 30 lap main event with all divisions running.  Gates will open at Noon with 2 practice sessions, 2 lap qualifying and racing beginning at 7 PM.  Lonesome Pine Raceway is a 3/8 mile asphalt oval that was founded in 1972 and is now under the ASA banner.  Numerous famous drivers have made laps on the track including Richard Petty, Harry Gant, Alan Kulwicki, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and a host of others.  For questions, please contact Thunder Legends Racing at 423-788-3336 or  

(Oregon, WI)

It's time to go racing at Madison International Speedway, an ASA Member Track, this weekend as the 2010 weekly racing program opens on Sunday, May 23rd.  Five weekly divisions will be featured including the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models, Area Sportsman, Club LaMark Hobby Stocks, Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends, and Roto Rooter Bandits.  Pit gates open at 10:00 AM with hot laps at 11:30 AM, qualifying at 1:30 PM, and racing at 3:00 PM.

(Meridian, ID)

The Boise Special Olympics and a local Lions Club will benefit from another night of racing at ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway on Saturday.  Drivers go Racing for a Reason to raise funds for the two groups. Special Olympians will take the track in unique Boxcar Races.  Vintage sprintcars provide nostalgia as the Intermountain Vintage Sprintcars touring series tries out the new quarter-mile paved oval configuration. The Idaho Six-cylinder Racing League modifieds drivers also will get their first taste of the new blacktop.  Regular classes scheduled to race include Latemodel Sportsman, Mini Stocks and Jr. Stingers.

(San Bernardino, CA)

This will be Salute to Education week at Orange Show Speedway. That means early points leader Ron Daniel will try to take his JAM Sportswear Late Model rivals to school again Saturday night (May 22) and all high school students and teachers can watch as guests of Best in the West Racing.  The school year is winding down and there won't be any racing at the ASA Member Track on Memorial Day weekend, so all high school students and teachers will be admitted free by presenting valid school identification. That's Best in the West's way of congratulating the students for their hard work and thanking the teachers who guide and inspire them.  A 50-lap main event for the JAM Sportswear Late Models will highlight the program, with support from the Team Too Pony Stocks, Interstate Batteries Factory Fours, Stock Cars USA, Stock OHV Karts and a Stock Cars USA Figure 8 race.  Spectator gates will open at 4 p.m., with an on-track autograph session from 5:50 to 6:30 p.m. and the first race at 7 p.m.

(North Wichita Falls, TX)

The Legends are back!  Plus all of the usual classes this Saturday night. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing at 8:00 p.m.

(West Valley City, UT)

The Young Automotive USAC Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series returns to Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, May 22 to complete its first feature event of the 2010 season.  Rain ended the Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series Opener on May 1, during the first heat race.  2005 and 2006 Rocky Mountain Rocky Mountain Champion Jimmy Wysong has made a return to the series after a three-year hiatus. Wysong will be a car to watch this Saturday as he posted the fastest qualifying time before the season opener rain out.  Other RMR classes running include the Maverik Modifieds, Super Stocks, Focus Midgets and DEX Mini Cups.  Gates open at 4pm. Qualifying starts at 5pm and racing begins at 6pm.  Adult admission is $15 and youth (5-12) are $5.
Rocky Mountain Raceways is Utah's premiere motorsports venue for oval racing, drag racing, motocross racing, monster trucks and drifting.

(Tioga Center, NY)

This Saturday's "Concrete Kicks Asphalt" event resumes the full ASA Member Track program with point races in all classes. Pit gates open at 12 noon and grandstand gates at 12:45 p.m. Hot laps are set for 1:00 p.m. and racing at 3:00 p.m. Feature distances are 35 laps for the Modifieds, 30 laps for the ASA Late Models, 25 laps for the Sportsman Modifieds, and 20 laps for the Street Stocks.

(Burlington, WA)

The Foothills Toyota Tundra Racing Series - Round 6 featuring 410, 360, Sportsman Sprint cars plus the Outlaw Hornets will be in action this Saturday night.  Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

(Medford, OR)

This Saturday night it's "Bi-Mart Family Night at the Races" with the Modifieds, Super 4's, Dwarfs, Mini Stocks, and the Thrill Cars are back!!!  Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m.

(Wausau, WI)

The new ASA Member Track opens their 2010 season on Thursday night.  New owners Ron & Scott Wimmer will open with a 75-lap Super Late Model feature and fireworks.  The Mini-Mods, Sportsman and Pure Stocks will also be in action.  Racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.

(Kyle, TX)

Thunderhill Raceway (Kyle, TX) will be presenting Operation Interdependence® Night at the Races.  This organization packages Civilian Rations® and sends them to our troops. Drivers, teams and fans are asked to bring quart-sized baggies, assist with the packing and write personal notes to the service men and women who will be receiving the packages. The new race format - qualifying and features only - will be used again for the nine classes that are on the agenda, including the TSRS Late Models, TSRS Allison Legacys, Pro Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Dwarf Cars, ASA A-Line Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Grand Stocks and Mini Stocks. Kids' Bicycle Races and Kiddie Rides are also on tap for the younger fans. Since the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race is also taking place on Saturday night, Budweiser will be offering the fans an opportunity to watch a live broadcast of the NASCAR race while enjoying the exciting racing action at the track.

(Tucson, AZ)

It's "Two-Fer" Night this Saturday night at Tucson Raceway Park.  2 for 1 admission, 2 for 1 burgers, beverages and beer.  Plus see the first All-Star Race at TRP with our Super Late Model Stars and our Street Stock Stars.  Gates open at 5 p.m., autograph session at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

(Saluda, VA)

Will return to action on May 29th.

(Wilmot, WI)

The 410 Sprints, Street Stocks, Modifieds, Mini Sprints, and Fearless 4's will be in action for a Sunday twilight show.  Pits open at 2 p.m. and grandstands at 4 p.m.
