ASA Welcomes Big Country Speedway To Member Track Fold
Facility is Only Asphalt Track in Wyoming
ASA PR Report
Wyoming is well known for having the first National Park with Yellowstone, the first National Forest with Shoshone, and the first National Monument with Devils Tower.  Now Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, Wyoming is the first ASA Member Track in the Cowboy State.

"The notoriety will really help us," Jerry Hargraves, Promoter said about joining ASA.  "We are excited to form this great partnership and work together.  This is great for our drivers and fans."

That partnership has many benefits for the Big Country Speedway competitors as well, "This gives my drivers the opportunity to compete with other ASA sanctioned bodies and tracks," Hargraves said.  "But the real reason is the insurance.  The coverage is the best I have seen.  It covers them to and from the track as well as when they are at the track, that is unique.  And for crying out loud, they even have a dental plan.  How many personal accident policies have you seen with a dental plan?"

Big Country Speedway is also the only asphalt track in the state.  It is 5/10-mile in length and features seven divisions of racing with Late Models, Grand Nationals, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mod 4's, Micro Sprints, and Junkyard Warriors.  The track also hosts legends, dwarf, midgets and mini-sprints throughout the season.  The track was built in 1953 as a dirt track, but converted to an asphalt track later that year.

"We are excited to bring the ASA brand to Big Country Speedway and the state of Wyoming," Dennis Huth, ASA President said.  "Jerry Hargraves and his staff have worked very hard with their great weekly program and we are happy to assist them in their growth.  Welcome aboard!"

The track's website is currently being re-built and should be up soon at  The track is located a few miles south of downtown Cheyenne off of Hwy. 85.

The ASA Member Track program is comprised of dirt and asphalt short tracks along with road courses around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and national touring series.
