Smyrna Speedweeks Thursday Update
Only One Day Left Until Racing Starts
By Bob Dillner
Editor's Note - Racing activities for the 43rd Annual World Series of Short Track Racing start on Friday, February 6th and will be right there at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), kicking off over a week of our Trackside Now coverage.  On Thursday, several teams were already practicing at the track and our Bob Dillner stopped by the check things out and snap a few photos with his camera phone.

Many of the teams have arrived in New Smyrna, FL. They have checked into their accomodations from Ocean Properties and had a bite to eat at Gilly's Pub 44. Today many of the teams are also testing at New Smyrna Speedway in preparation for tomorrow nights opener to the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing.

It appeared as though nearly 25 Modifieds were practicing - some Tour-Type Mods and other SKs. More than 50 Late Models were unloaded and taking to the track, although it was difficult to tell which were ASA-Type and which were Super LMs. The Speedway tells us they will utilize a colored sticker on the LMs to help distinguish which division they are in. Many FL IMCA-Style Mods were also practicing.

Trackside Now coverage begins tomorrow on 51. Stay tuned.
