Question: Why would a short track racing fan want a night away from the race track? Answer: To catch up with everything that is short track racing and eat some of the best wings on the planet. Now fans will be able to do just that courtesy of Speed 51 Radio with RaceTalkRadio.com and Buffalo Wild Wings.
51 Sports, the parent company of Speed 51 Radio, announced today that its weekly short track racing show will be broadcast live from Buffalo Wild Wing’s Kannapolis, NC location every Tuesday night at 7pm on RaceTalkRadio.com.
On Tuesday, February 24th, Speed 51 Radio brought its broadcast live to the BWW restaurant on Bayfield Parkway in the new Afton Ridge shopping center. Guests and fans that joined the show were able to enjoy 40-cent wings, burgers, cold beverages and a lot more at the same time, making for a wild atmosphere throughout the restaurant.
“We’ve had a lot of great feedback about our first show at Buffalo Wild Wings since last Tuesday,” said Speed 51 Radio host and SPEED broadcaster Bob Dillner. “We had a bunch of great guests stop by the Buffalo Wild Wings and have some great food while chatting with us about the upcoming season. We’re just a bunch of guys doing what we love – eating, having a good time and talking racing. That’s why I think everyone who came to BWW last week had such a great time – they were able to do the same thing with us. We want to build an audience every week at Buffalo Wild Wings and on RaceTalkRadio.com.”
The showing of support from the show’s fans as well as fans of good times, good food and good racing has led Buffalo Wild Wings in Kannapolis to become the official broadcast home of Speed 51 Radio.
Every week, Speed 51 Radio will expand on its industry leading coverage of short track racing on Speed51.com with a live broadcast from Buffalo Wild Wings in Kannapolis. Dillner and his sidekick Duke (Matt Kentfield), as well as MD (Matthew Dillner), Jason “Stix” Buckley and “Stat Boy” Elgin Traylor will cover all things short track racing from BWW, while Mike “The Twister” Twist will join them via telephone from the 51 Offices in New England. A stout list of short track personalities will join the crew every week, some on location and others on the “Racing Electronics Hotline” (via phone line).
The show hit the internet airwaves for the first time in late 2008 and since has become web radio’s leading short track racing news source, just as Speed51.com revolutionized short track news coverage back in 2001. Guests on Speed 51 Radio in recent weeks have been some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Ted Christopher, Wayne Anderson, two-time Snowball Derby Champion Augie Grill, Jimmy Blewett and more. Speed 51 Radio also spread its wings into live event coverage during Florida Speedweeks, broadcasting the Richie Evans Memorial 100 Tour-Type Modified race and the Pete Orr Memorial Super Late Model feature from New Smyrna Speedway on Daytona 500 weekend.
“The show has grown leaps and bounds since we started it just a few months ago,” said Speed 51 Radio’s Matt “Duke” Kentfield. “We started off in Bob’s home office at his house, and now just a few shows later we’re broadcasting from our favorite restaurant in town and we’ve got a bunch of fans that come out to have some good wings, cold drinks and talk short track racing with us at BWW. We do the show to bring all the news to the fans, so it’s really cool to know that we’ve developed a following so quickly.”
So, stop by and see the gang from Speed 51 Radio, plus mingle with racers and fans alike at Buffalo Wild Wings in Kannapolis, NC on Tuesday night at 7pm. Fans unable to make it to BWW can listen live on the web by clicking on the “Listen Now” link on RaceTalkRadio.com.
