Hayden, Alabama’s Augie Grill won the Miller Lite Super Late Model 100 lap race Saturday evening on the Mobile International Speedway way one-half mile track.
Bubba Pollard of Senoia, Georgia was the fast qualifier establishing a new track record at 16.827 seconds as a one lap time.
Earlier in qualifying, Grill established a time of 16.828 to start on the outside front row.
It was Grill who took the lead at the start of the race. He relinquished the lead for a pit stop just past the midway mark. Returning to the track, he charged back to the top spot and the checkered flag.
Jeff Fultz of Moorsville, North Carolina was runner-up in the event trailing by 1.2 seconds to the final flag.
Pole sitter Pollard was third, followed by Casey Smith of Austin, Texas, and Eddie Mercer of Pensacola, Florida.
Time of the race was 54 minutes, there were three caution flags thrown.
The Miller Lite series returns August 8, 2009 for race four of the year and will be the second half of the $25,000 dollar Gulf Coast Championship
The $1000.00 best finish award was split between Grill and Pollard, who also won the fast qualifier bonus from Lynch Tree Service.
Johanna Long, who finished sixth, won the half way leader award.
Friday evening at Five Flags Speedway, Long was the fast qualifier and used her starting position to lead 84 of the 100 laps and win the one hour race.
Pollard was second in the Pensacola race, followed by David Rodgers of Orlando, Grill and Steven Davis of Satsuma.
