USARacing Pro Cup Series Kicks Off

Drew Herring Looks For Breakthrough Weekend
PR Report

The USARacing Pro Cup Series is heading back to Langley Speedway for the first time since May 1998 this Memorial Day Weekend.  The Hampton (VA) Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB) has been named the title sponsor of the Pro Cup Series’ third event of the season. The HAMPTON VIRGINIA 250 is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start on May 23, in Hampton, VA.

"We take great pleasure in having the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau as our title sponsor for the Langley race," said Jimmy Wilson, Vice President/ Series Director. "We’re excited about the Series’ return to the area and to Langley Speedway. Hampton is a beautiful part of the country, rich in history and racing heritage. It’s a total package and we’re happy to do our part to promote tourism to the area."

Since this is the first time in over a decade that the series has visited the 0.4 mile track, there are many new faces and first timers attending the event this Memorial Day weekend.  Current Pro Cup point leader, Drew Herring, fresh off of his first series win at South Georgia Motorsports Park on April 25, talked about the upcoming race recently.

“I’m definitely coming into this weekend with confidence,” commented the driver of the No. 22s BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors Ford Fusion.  “But I’ve never even seen this track before.  Hopefully we can get the track figured out on Friday since we will be testing.  I’ve got the best group of guys though, so I’m not worried.  And, like I’ve said a million times already this season, Mike Hester is the best guy in the business.”

The HAMPTON VIRGINIA 250, plus local stars from the Late Model and Grand Stocks Series, at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA on May 23, 2009 is a great way to kick off your Memorial Day Weekend.
