75 Becomes 100 For Oswego's Budweiser Classic Weekend
25 Extra Laps On Tap For Race of Champions Aphalt Mod Feature
The DART Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour event scheduled as a part of this weekend’s Budweiser International Classic weekend at the Oswego Speedway was originally scheduled for 75-laps, but Pat Furlong and Steve Gioia have upped the ante adding an additional 25-laps to make the race 100-laps, which is great for Modified teams and for the benefit of the team an additional $4,000 has been added to the overall purse for the event.
The additional laps will provide teams with a great opportunity to fine tune their equipment for the weekend following the International Classic when the Sunoco Race of Champions takes to the track for the 59th annual 200-lap event.
“This is great news for our teams and our fans,” offered Series Director, Andrew Harpell. “Oswego is dedicated to Modified racing as they have shown in the past with their scheduling and running of events for our Tour and the Race of Champions. My hat goes off to Pat Furlong, Steve Gioia and the entire Oswego staff for this. It is a true rare occurrence in this sport by being a win-win for everyone involved.”
In addition to the laps and the money, race fans can expect to see the best behind the wheel of the modifieds in addition to some special guests who will be behind the wheel of an asphalt modified for the very first time. Additional details regarding those drivers is forthcoming.
