Lab Work Leads to Penalties For Mason and Wall

Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have determined that samples from a tire that John Mason used to qualify with at the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway in Union, KY had been chemically altered for use in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have also determined that samples from a tire that Chris Wall used to qualify with at the Topless 100 at Batesville Speedway in Batesville, AR had been chemically altered for use in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event.

Results of the samples taken from the tire belonging to Mr. Mason were returned to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series from an independent testing laboratory, stating that the tire was found to be chemically altered [PREPPED] to enhance the performance of the tire sometime prior to qualifying on August 7, 2009 at Florence Speedway.

The following penalties were handed down in accordance to the 2009 LOLMDS rulebook for anyone competing with a chemically altered tire during competition at a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. The North/South 100 at Florence Speedway on August 7th & 8th, 2009 was a sanctioned LOLMDS event with a contract and insurance in place at the time of this 1st occurrence.  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rulebook States that for a 1st offense for the 2009 season: $1,500.00 Fine and 300 points plus any winnings that have accrued for the event, violator will assume all costs included in any testing procedures, no points and no winners circle money will be awarded for that event.

In total, Mr. Mason is being fined 300 points, plus the $1500 fine, $450 in lab testing fees, the $100 winnings for his start in the B-Main, for a total of $2,050.00 to be paid in full.

In the case of Mr. Wall, the results of the samples were returned to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series from an independent testing laboratory, stating that the tire was found to be chemically altered [PREPPED] to enhance the performance of the tire sometime prior to qualifying on August 14, 2009 at Batesville Speedway.

The following penalties were handed down in accordance to the 2009 LOLMDS rulebook for anyone competing with a chemically altered tire during competition at a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. The Topless 100 in Batesville, AR on August 14 & 15, 2009 was a sanctioned LOLMDS event with a contract and insurance in place at the time of this 1st occurrence.

In total, Mr. Wall is being fined 300 points, plus the $1500 fine, $450 in lab testing fees, the $2,800 winnings for his 10th place finish in the 2009 Topless 100 for a total of $4,750.00 to be paid in full.

The portion of the fines made up of winnings from the North/South 100 for Mr. Mason and the winnings from the Topless 100 from Mr. Wall will be redistributed to the tracks and drivers finishing order from each respective event. Due to these disqualifications, the points from each event will be adjusted accordingly.The $1500 fine will be used to further enhance the tire testing program for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
