The old ASA National Tour was the biggest thing “back in the day.” On Tuesday, June 16th the officials with the CRA Super Series, some old friends with ASA, and 30 of the best Super Late Model drivers in the country will turn back the clock as they honor ASA with the running of the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway in Indiana. The Tuesday night race, featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch, will prove to be one of the best shows of the season. For fans who cannot attend the race, it will be broadcast live on RaceTalkRadio.com presented by Speed51.com
“I grew up watching the old ASA series,” said Dennis Michelson of RaceTalkRadio.com. “All of us who will be involved with the broadcast are extremely excited to be a part of such a big event. Broadcasting a race from historic Anderson Speedway is another notch on my microphone. RaceTalkRadio's partnership with Speed51.com continues to bring a new level of coverage to short track racing fans worldwide.”
“It’s going to be a blast,” commented Bob Dillner, SPEED TV broadcaster and former ASA National Tour broadcaster. “A bunch of people from ASA’s past will be here, including, from what I hear, founder Rex Robbins. Even their former announcer, Mike Miller, will be part of the event. If you are in the Indiana area you need to be at this event, but if you are a bunch of miles away, listen in on RaceTalkRadio.com with Speed 51 Radio.”
Michelson, along with Mathew Dillner, co-owner of Speed51.com, will be on the call for the historic event. Elgin “Stat Boy” Traylor will work pit road for the 300-lap event, as “Doc” Love with be at the controls for the historic broadcast. Tune in at 6pm ET to listen to the pre-race show with SPEED TV Announcer and Speed51.com front-man Bob Dillner and catch some interviews with ASA graduates, such as three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, fellow NASCAR driver David Stremme and a whole lot more. In fact, whether you are at the event or listening on RaceTalkRadio.com, you will also be able to hear from former ASA champs, Mike Eddy, Kevin Cywinski and Gary St. Amant.
