ASA MW PR Report
American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment Super Late Model Series officials have announced that the Race for the Gold - Gold Race has been moved to ASAMT date on Saturday, September 26th at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN. The non-points Super Late Model event at Dells Raceway Park, an ASA Member Track, scheduled for Saturday, September 12th has been removed from the schedule.
"When Steve Einhaus and I hatched The Race for the Gold idea early in the year, we had obtained local sponsorship for the entire series," Joe Graziano, Dells Raceway Park Promoter said. "Unfortunately our sponsors were not immune to economic challenges and we were unable to get the support needed for events of this magnitude. We were able to absorb the Bronze and Silver races, but we needed some help for the Gold event. I'm just thrilled that the ASAMT and Elko were able to work out an alternative."
"Its unfortunate, but the economy has taken a toll on many businesses and this is a sign of that as it trickles down," Steve Einhaus, ASAMT Vice-president said. "One of our races was to be a non-points event anyway, so we just dropped the event off of the schedule. We are happy that we could move the final event to a track very similar to the Dells."
Dells Raceway Park will be hosting the first annual Traveler's Championships Invitational on September 12-13th. The Late Model Invitational scheduled for Saturday, September 12th will follow the rules based on the current Big 8 Series Late Model rules.
Going into the September 26th finale, Steve Holzhausen leads in the standings with 276 points followed by Nathan Haseleu with 249 points. Defending ASAMT Champion Dan Fredrickson in third with 244 points, while Bronze winner Steve Carlson in fourth with 240 points. Jeff Kendall rounds out the top-five with 222 points.
The next event for the ASAMT is this Sunday, August 16th at Raceway Park in Shakopee,MN. ECHO Power Equipment/Oregon Cutting Systems "Quick Cut" Qualifying gets underway at 4 p.m. with the popular autograph session at 5:00 p.m. Racing begins at 6:00 p.m.
