Iowa Speedway officials have informed the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment officials that they have already sold over 18,000 tickets for this Saturday night's "Pride of Iowa 100" at the 7/8-mile facility. Last year, the ASAMT raced in front of an announced crowd of 14,888.
"We are very excited to have the ASA Midwest Tour return to 'America's Place to Race' and from our advance ticket sales, the Iowa racing fans are excited to see their return as well, since we have over 18,000 ticket-holders for the event," Craig Armstrong, Iowa Speedway Vice President/General Manager stated. "Last year, they put on a great super late model race and we expect more excitement this year as they will be competing under the lights in a classic Saturday night shootout."
As of this writing, a total of 41 drivers representing nine different states have already entered the event. "When Craig e-mailed me that they already had over 18,000 tickets out, I about dropped my jaw," Steve Einhaus, ASAMT Vice President stated. "This is going to be a fun weekend and a great race. We have a superstar lineup of the best super late model drivers in the Midwest coming to compete at this event."
The schedule for the Pride of Iowa 100 has the first practice starting at 9:30 a.m. with the second practice starting at 11:30 a.m. The spectator gates open at noon with ASAMT Qualifying at 2:30 p.m. The popular ASAMT Autograph session will take place at 3:45 p.m. The Pride of Iowa 100 will get underway at 7:50 p.m. The USST Super Trucks will also be competing in a 50-lap event that night as well with their race starting at 6:50 p.m.
After the race, there will be a post-race concert featuring country music star Jake Owen, who recently won the ACM "Best New Male Vocalist" award.
