One of the great traditions of the Dixieland 150 presented by Gandrud Chevrolet event at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI are the stars who come to compete in this event. The 2009 edition will live up to the hype as the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment announces that NASCAR Superstar Kevin Harvick will compete in his first ever Super Late Model event in the State of Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 4th.
"I am very excited to race in the ASA Midwest Tour Series at Wisconsin International Raceway," said Harvick. "I have heard nothing but good things about the Dixieland 150. Hopefully Ron, myself and the rest of the competitors can put on a good show for the fans."
"We are very excited to have Kevin Harvick compete with the ASAMT competitors at this prestigious event," Steve Einhaus, ASAMT Vice president stated. "The Dixieland 150 race has always been one of the more popular traditions in Wisconsin racing. The ASAMT is proud to continue this tradition and bring in one of the more successful NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers to this event."
Harvick, a Bakersfield, CA native, got his start in racing go-karts. In 1995, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series. Instead of pursuing a career in architecture he decided to move up and compete in the NASCAR Winston West Series, where he was the 1998 champion. He competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series when he caught the eye of Richard Childress who offered him a ride in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. In 2000, he won three Nationwide events and finished third in the points.
In 2001, everyone remembers how he was asked to step in Childress's Sprint Cup ride after losing the great Dale Earnhardt. That year, he married his wife Delana, won two Sprint Cup Series races, named the Raybestos Rookie of the Year and the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship, a championship he also earned in 2006. Harvick is also the 2007 Daytona 500 champion and the 2003 Brickyard 400 champion.
There will be a special VIP ticket for this event for $100 (all ages) that includes a question/answer session and autograph signing with Kevin Harvick, VIP Seating, FREE VIP Parking, Dinner, and Beverages. The first 200 VIP tickets purchased will also receive an autographed 1/24th scale Diecast car valued at $69.00.

VIP tickets are $100 (all ages), Adult (ages 12 & up) General Admission tickets are $18.00 advance ($25 day of the race); Children (ages 8-12) are $8.00 advance ($12.00 day of the race), ages 7 and under are Free (general admission only, this does NOT include the VIP).
There will also be a Fan Pit Pass available after 2 p.m. for ages 10 and up for $45.00. This pit pass will also include general grandstand seating.
Joining Harvick will be the driver of his Camping World Truck Series team and current point leader Ron Hornaday. Hornaday competed in the 2007 ASAMT Dixieland 150 event driving a car prepared by Matt Maynard. He finished 23rd in that event after falling out with mechanical problems.
Hornaday currently drives for Kevin and DeLana Harvick in the Camping World Truck Series, together they won the 2007 championship and he finished a close second last year. He is also the 1996 & 1998 Truck Series champion driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc.
So far this season he has two poles, one win, four top-fives and six top-ten finishes in seven starts.
Along with the ASAMT, the Big 8 Series will also be competing that night. Last year, Jeremy Miller held off a tough challenge from Ross Kenseth, son of 2009 Daytona 500 champion, Matt Kenseth, to win the event. Both Miller and Kenseth will be back to renew their battle on August 4th.
A full schedule of events will be released at a later date.
