New Official Page Connects Short Track Fans Across the World
Speed51.com / 51 Sports PR Report
Social networking over the Internet has become the "in" thing over the last few years.  From discussion board websites like MotorsportsLounge.com to MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, staying connected between friends, fans and the like through these community websites have helped keep everyone in the know.

Back in May of 2006, Speed51.com partnered with MotorsportsLounge.com to house the short track racing discussion forums.  Now, the short track website will add to its social networking presence by launching the new Speed51.com Facebook.com page.

"We are asked weekly by our local Speed 51 viewers about if we would consider starting a fan page for the website on Facebook," said Jason "Stix" Buckley, Corporate Manager of 51 Sports.  "After some of our staff has been Facebook users now for a while, we decided it would be a good time to start the official Speed51.com fan page to give our users another avenue to keep up with where we are, what we are covering and the various news stories and happenings in the short track realm."

The new Speed 51 Facebook page will be updated with photos and interesting news story links.  Plus, it will feature Trackside Now updates from at the track as well as other material, including Speed 51 Radio information, links to features on the website and even some content exclusive to the Facebook page.

Even though the new Speed 51 fan page will allow users to post "wall" comments, general discussion on the happenings in the motorsports world will still take place in the official discussion forums for Speed51.com at MotorsportsLounge.com (ML).

"We are not abandoning the ML forums," added Buckley.  "They will still be the place where fans can interact about the Speed 51 Radio show, Trackside Now coverage and anything else happening in short track racing as well as the official forum hosting location for the 51 Sports clients.  The official fan page for Speed51.com on Facebook will be an extension of our coverage and social network within the short track community.  Everybody checks their Facebook at least once a day and if we put something interesting that happened in the world of short track racing on Facebook, then people can find out more detail on Speed51.com and then chat about it at ML."
