ASA Late Models – Series officials tried to fight Mother Nature in vain on Saturday to get the ASA Late Model Challenge Series season opener in at Tri County Speedway (NC), but it just wasn't to be.  Rain, lightning and wind cancelled racing for Saturday and the track's curfew does not allow racing on Sundays.  A make-up date will be announced.

USAR Hooters Pro Cup - In the season-opening USAR Pro Cup Series event on Saturday night at USA International Speedway (FL), Benny Gordon, a Sears Auto Center Northern Division competitor, used an unorthodox pitting strategy to get the lead in the Greased Lightning Southern Division opener. While most leaders waited to pit on Lap 64, Gordon elected to take his BFGoodrich Tires g-Force radials on Lap 26 and cycled into the lead on Lap 88.  He held off Matt Hawkins late in the race to take the victory.  1) Gordon  2) Hawkins  3) James Buescher  4) Caleb Holman  5) Billy Bigley
