USAC & Owner's Group Continues Forward Movement  Toward Gold Crown Championship Car
Series Seeks Input, Could Debut in 2010
The Owner's Exploratory Group (OEG) for the USAC Gold Crown Division continues to determine the best approach for creating a racing series utilizing the 'New Generation Silver Crown Cars', and is seeking input from media and fans alike regarding the new body design from experienced General Motors designer Randy Wittine. It is the intention to utilize the existing chassis and components as the foundation of the design refinement.

The OEG was formed to examine opportunities to race and create a premier series/division of competition as a destination as well as training ground for North American open-wheel racers. The OEG consists of several car owners who are dedicated to building a solid foundation for the USAC Gold Crown program including Roger Johnson, Steve Weirich, Darryl Guiducci, Ron Hemelgarn, Brad Armstrong and Bruce Ashmore.

In addition to utilizing non-traditional methods to build the foundation of the series and the division, the OEG is seeking feedback from members of the media and fans in regards to the created designs. Each design is designated by a number on the car and feedback can contribute in an e-mail form to GoldCrown@USACracing.com.

The intent of the USAC Gold Crown Division is to emerge in early 2010 with an approximate 10-race schedule at premier racing facilities throughout North America including potential stops at road courses. A road course feasibility test will be performed later this fall with a car that will be prepared at Hemelgarn Racing and tested on the road course at Putnam Park.  The test will be an open-forum for manufacturer's, chassis builder, competitors and the sanction to develop a note book for further evaluation and execution of road course event(s) for the Gold Crown Division car(s) moving forward.
