Drive For Diversity Program Seeks Drivers for 2009 Season NASCAR PR Report
NASCAR Program Focuses on Driver Development
The Drive for Diversity program is now accepting applications from experienced drivers for the 2009 season. This will mark the sixth season for NASCAR's leading driver development program, which provides opportunities for minority and female drivers to compete with established NASCAR teams.
"We are excited to continue our work with the NASCAR industry and look forward to seeing another exceptional class of candidates at the 2008 Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco," said Greg Calhoun, president and CEO of Access Marketing & Communications, which runs the Drive for Diversity program.
Interested minority and female drivers are invited to submit their applications to Access Marketing & Communications through August 1, 2008. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in the 2008 Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco. The event will be hosted by Access Marketing & Communications.
Drivers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills before established NASCAR team owners in an effort to earn an opportunity to compete with the Drive for Diversity program for the 2009 season. Drivers who have demonstrated their skill and have experience in grassroots racing will be considered.
The Drive for Diversity program is in its fifth season and is NASCAR's leading on-track diversity initiative. Since its inception in 2004, the Drive for Diversity program has
supported 22 different drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and NASCAR Camping World Series. This season four drivers compete in the NASCAR Camping World Series – two in the East and two in the West – and five drivers compete in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Interested drivers should visit www.drivefordiversity.com to download a program application or to apply online. All resumes and supporting materials must be received no later than Friday, August 1, 2008. Please note that applicant resumes and supporting materials will not be returned.
