True Value Modified Racing Series Holds Final Off Season Meeting by Denise DuPont
New Race Director Holds Court
The final pre-race season meeting was held on recently for the True Value Modified Racing Series organization with officials, car owners, crews and drivers all in attendance.
New race director for the series, Mike Chapman had plenty of tasks at the meeting. He went over rules, procedures, answered questions and introduced new staff members to those in attendance.
TVMRS founder, Jack Bateman, advised all that a new policy for heat race lineups is in effect for this year. Starting positions will now be determined after drawing for position. It was felt that race teams that are not able to compete at each event would benefit from the decision. Finishes in heat races and consi events will still determine actual feature lineups.
At a prior organization meeting, a recommendation was made to eliminate mirrors. This request was considered, but Bateman noted at this meeting that a recent membership vote supported the use of one outside mirror for the 2008 season.
There are eighteen races on the schedule and one non-point Wednesday night open show planned for Seekonk Speedway on July 16th. The series will return to the following tracks: All-Star Speedway, Beech Ridge, Lee, Monadnock, Oxford Plains, Seekonk, Thompson, and. Waterford.
New to the series this year is a May race at Thunder Road International Speedway in Vermont and a June race NHIS weekend at Wiscasset Raceway in Maine.
Along with continued sponsorship from True Value Hardware, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Inside Track Racing Collectibles, DART Machine has committed to support of the series by contributing to the weekly contingency fund.

Sunoco Race Fuels will be the official race fuel of the fifth year series and will present the touring series “Hard Charger” award at each race event in 2008. The award is presented to the competitor that passes the most cars in the series 100 lap races.
Inside Track Racing Collectibles will be the official Souvenir vendor for the series.
New England Racing Fuels will also continue their participation in the “Modified Mania” guaranteed starter program. Again this season, six race dates, to be determined, will establish the starting positions for the 75 lap race at the third annual Thompson International Speedway two day event scheduled for Sept 6th & 7th. The TVMRS will also benefit from money placed into the year end point fund.
The Modified Racing Series season will start on Saturday, April 5th with an open practice day at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.
Again this year, Monadnock Speedway (NH) will officially host the first race, “Spring Dash 100”, on April 12th. Keep those snow suits and shovels out! See you at the track in just a few more weeks.
