Pollard Wins GAS Race at Watermelon Capital Series PR Report
Hot Action on the Track on a Very Warm Day
The air temperature in Cordele, Georgia was 103 on Saturday. Not only was there hot weather, there also was extremely hot racing in the Georgia Asphalt Series 100 at Watermelon Capital Speedway Saturday night.
Ryan Seig of Decatur, Georgia started on the pole after the roll of the dice. Sieg, in his S&W Towing racer, jumped out into the lead and seemed to be the car to beat. The problem was, Bubba Pollard was on mission to win. Pollard in the Pollard Trucking Chevrolet of Senoia, Georgia, worked his way toward the front to assume the lead on lap 194. "I developed a vapor lock in my motor with a few laps to go and I couldn't keep him behind me," said Sieg. "He obviously had the car to beat."

Pollard went on to take his second GAS Series win of the year. "Boy, we needed this win and I had a great racecar", said Pollard. "I knew Ryan had been drifting up the banking in turn one and it would be my only place I could to get around him."

Rounding out the top five were Joey Senter of Jefferson, Georgia, Wes Burton of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Russell Fleeman of Dacula, Georgia.

The 100 lap event went rather smoothly except on lap 14 when Billy Fulson spun coming out of turn two. James Nealis couldn't avoid the spinning Fulson causing a hard impact. Both drivers were OK.
It was a good night for two of the Five Star Rookies. Max Gresham of Griffin, Georgia finished 7th and T.J. Reaid of Acworth, Georgia finished ninth.

The next race for the GAS Series is Saturday, June 14 at new Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia. The track is located between I-85 & I-75 on Georgia Hwy 16, three miles west of Senoia.
