Travis Kittleson Survives to Finish Sixth at South Georgia
Pro Cup Season Gets Off on the Right Foot for Young Driver
Travis Kittleson’s USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series is getting off to a solid start.  For the second race in a row, Kittleson recorded a top-10 finish in the series.  His latest result was a sixth-place finish in Saturday’s event at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

The path to that top-10 finish was a rocky one for the #54 Bob Steele Chevrolet team though.
“Early on, there were two guys in front of me who were beating and banging,” said Kittleson.  “I tried to pass them both and one of their cars bounced off the other one.  I turned to avoid them and got down on the apron of the track.  The car just came out from under me and I spun it.  We changed tires and went to the back after that.

“We weren’t really that good at that point and lost a lap.  But I lost the lucky dog and played the survival game.  We were very fortunate and got up to fourth.  I caught Dusty Williams and we both must have gotten into some oil or something on the track.  We both went for synchronized spins.”

Kittleson recovered to finish sixth and is now ranked fourth in the Southern Division USAR Pro Cup standings.

“I’m pretty happy with finishing sixth…but fifth would have been better or third would have been better.  For the night that we had though, that was a good finish.”
