Hantz Wins Rain Shortened Anderson 300, Becomes Series All Time Win Leader  CRA PR Report
Rain at Halfway Break Puts Hantz Atop CRA Win List
Scott Hantz is the new all-time CRA win leader.
With the victory Hantz now has five victories so far this season and has now become the series all time victory leader with 23 victories breaking a tie with Brian Ross. Hantz is seeking his third series Championship that would also break a tie with Ross with two series Championships apiece. Along with winning the race Hantz also took home a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award, the ISKY Racing Cams/Lane Automotive Hard Charger Award, the Holley Performance Award, the Kingen Interstate Express Halfway Leader Award and the Fatheadz.com 1st Place Award.

Bret Mile, Jr. led the first 97 laps of the CRA Street Stock Anderson 100 when disaster struck while trying to work his way around a pack of cars with second place car Joe Beaver seemingly tied to his bumper, Miles got caught in a spin and crash that forced him and Beaver to the pits.  Jacob Owens assumed the lead, but after the restart he developed a flat tire and was forced to pit on a caution for a different car spinning giving Jason Thompson the lead, and he held on for the win, his first ever with the CRA Street Stocks. Josh Burton finished second, Carl Muffley third, Rick Erwin fourth and Rob Allman fifth.

"It was hard to get a rhythm out there tonight."  Thompson stated.  "I am just glad to finally finish a couple of races in a row, it has been tough to get that done, we always have a good car, but have trouble getting to the end."

Miles recovered to finish eighth, while Beaver was forced to retire and finished 16th.  This gives the 2008 Championship points lead to Miles by just 2 points over Beaver.  Setting up a great battle for the championship with only five races to go in the CRA Street Stock season.

The next event for the CRA Super Series is the JayC Food Stores 100 at Salem Speedway on Saturday, August 16.  The next event for the CRA Street Stocks will be the Anderson 75 on August 23 at Anderson Speedway.  For more information about the CRA Super Series or CRA Street Stock see www.craracing.net.

Angola, Indiana's Scott Hantz came away with the victory in the rain-shortened Anderson 300 Presented By Great Deals Coupon Magazine Saturday night for the CRA Super Series at Anderson Speedway. The current series point's leader took the lead on lap 138 from Josh Bauer and led until the scheduled halfway break at lap 150. Rain began to fall during the break, and got very heavy with lightning just as the cars were being relined up for the second half. The event was called because of weather giving the win to Hantz.

"We were sort of saving the car for the second half, I was thinking about not using up the tires and maybe not changing all of the them at the break, but seeing how some of the other cars were sliding around, we decided to get to the front." Hantz said following the race.  "I credit my car owners mother-in-law with bringing us good luck this week and I am dedicating this win to Dorothy. "

Brian Rievley took the early lead from his pole starting position and led the first 79 laps before Wisconsin native Josh Bauer made a pass for the lead on lap 80. Bauer lead until Hantz made the outside pass on lap 138 coming from his sixth place starting position. Bauer held on to finish in second, even after losing his power steering right before being passed by Hantz.

Jeff Lane finished in third after setting a new track record in Appleton Rack & Pinion qualifying, which earned him the ARP Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award. Rievley finished in fourth with Jason Dietsch in fifth place. JR Roahrig finished in sixth earning a Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award. John VanDoorn was seventh, Kenny Tweedy eighth and Rick Turner ninth. Aaron Pierce was the K & N Filters Rookie Of The Race with his 10th place finish.
