Three Sauters Enter One Race by Kevin Ramsell, ASA MW Tour PR
Family Will Be Well Represented in ASA MW Tour Event at Dells
ASAMT Officials have just received an entry form from NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitor Tim Sauter for this Sunday’s Miller Lite 100 presented by Arby’s ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment event at Dells Raceway Park. The Necedah, WI native is the third member of the well-known Sauter family to enter the event.
Sauter will be piloting the famous “0” car normally driven by Scott Ollerman, “I think it will be a lot of fun,” Sauter stated. “I had a chance to test the car for Scott a few weeks ago at Dells. I am really looking forward to racing close to home.”
The 1999 American Speed Association Champion, where he had three wins and 15 top-five finishes in 20 events, returns to ASA competition this Sunday along with his brother Johnny Sauter and his son, ASAMT Touring Star Travis Sauter.
Last year, Tim competed in the ASAMT event at DRP where he came home with a 25th place finish after running into mechanical problems. He also competed full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series last year where he finished 16th in points with one top-ten finish.
“I think it’s the most competitive series in the country, let alone in the Midwest at the moment,” Sauter said when asked about the ASAMT. “I think it’s a good deal and it’s only going to get better.”
“It’s great to see the Sauters all coming together again at DRP,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP stated. “It’s close to home for their family and their fans, and to top it off they are in very competitive cars that could set them up for the win. It should be interesting to see how they compete against each other and exciting for the fans at the same time.”
The schedule for Sunday includes qualifying at 2 pm, autograph session at 3 pm with racing starting at 4 pm.
