However, in the shadows of that Cup event, there is an even greater opportunity for hardcore short track racing fans. In the days between Thursday, June 26th and Sunday, June 29th there is a cornucopia of great short track races throughout Northern New England.
Over the span of three days, the NASCAR Camping World East Series, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, PASS North Super Late Models, ACT Late Models and True Value Modified Racing Series will all be racing in New England. The 100-lap Governor’s Cup for Late Models will also take place at Vermont’s Thunder Road Speedbowl.
That’s a total of six races at five tracks in three states and Speed51.com will be there at each event to bring you all of the coverage.
The action kicks off on Thursday with the running of the Governor’s Cup race at Thunder Road and continues on Friday with the NASCAR Camping World East Series event at NHMS. On Saturday, the day starts out with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at NHMS and can conclude one of three ways for short track fans – with the ACT Late Models visiting White Mountain Motorsports Park (NH), the PASS North race at All-Star Speedway (NH) or the True Value Modified Racing Series feature at Maine’s Wiscasset Raceway.
Speed51.com will feature live Trackside Now coverage from the NHMS races and race reports from each of the other venues.
“Wow! What a weekend,” said Speed51.com Editor Mike Twist. “We’re used to covering big events like Florida Speedweeks or The Snowball Derby, but I can’t think of anytime all year long when there are so many great short track races in one general area around one time. I might be biased because I’m from around the region, but there’s nothing like “New England’s Summer Speedweek”.
“We’re pulling out all the stops to cover everything for the fans who can’t be up here…or the fans who are up here, but have to choose between the different races. It’s going to be a busy weekend on Speed51.com and I invite everyone to check in often to see what is going on.”
