Voting For The 51 Short Track Awards is Off and Running Gives Fans a Chance to Pick Their Best Choices in 36 Different Categories
The Hollywood Writer’s Strike turned the Golden Globe awards into little more than a press conference.  It led the SAG Awards to be a lower key affair than usual and who knows what impact it will have on the Oscars.

But the writers at are not on strike, nor are the readers of the popular short track racing website.  So’s long running Short Track Awards, the 51s, are alive and well.
A panel of short track racing journalists put their heads together and created a list of nominees in 36 different categories ranging from “Short Track Driver of the Year” to “Most Inspiring Moment” to “Best Appearing Racecar” to “Short Track Bad Boy – The Driver You Love to Hate”.  All in all, there were 175 different drivers, representing 38 different short track tours or types of racing, nominated for an award on the massive ballot.

Now, it’s all up to the short track fans to decide their winners by logging on to and casting their votes.  A special 51 Awards tab appeared at the middle of the front page among the most current stories in short track racing.

“We just wrapped up voting for the / ARP Super Late Model Most Popular Driver and we got over 30,000 votes in that contest,” said editor Mike Twist.  “That shows how much the fans enjoy this kind of program and how much they are willing to get involved in the process.  We’ve done our part by putting names on the ballot and now it’s their turn to show us who they believe is deserving of each award.”
