Voting For Most Popular Driver Awards Hits the Homestretch
Balloting For ARP Super Late Model and Hooters Pro Cup Awards Will End on January 3rd
The races are tight for both the ARP Super Late Model and the Pro Cup Most Popular Driver Awards.
On January 3, 2008 many Iowa residents will cast their votes in the nation’s first caucus for the 2008 Presidential Elections.  On that same day, short track racing fans will get their last chance to vote for their favorites.
No, we’re not talking about Barack Obama, John Edwards or Hillary Clinton on one side and Mitt Romney, John McCain or Rudy Giuliani on the other.  We’re talking about the two Most Popular Driver awards that are up for grabs this year that have racers like Gary St. Amant, Benny Gordon and Bobby Gill on one side and Ryan Lawler, Ben Rowe and Nathan Hassleau on the other.  Both the Super Late Model Most Popular Driver and Hooter’s Pro Cup Series Most Popular Driver Awards will have their final ballots cast by fans on January 3rd, when voting at the popular racing website ends.

Until then, fans can vote for each award once every day by visiting and clicking on the appropriate link for each award.

With less than one month to go in the balloting, the votes are close in each race

“The Pro Cup fans always make their Most Popular Driver awards close, but the ARP Super Late Model award is new this year, so we didn’t know what to expect,” said Editor Mike Twist.  “We’re overwhelmed by the response actually.  It’s a very close race so far against guys who run in different parts of the country and might never get the chance to race against each other – with a few other big names thrown in.  We might even see a last minute wildcard get their vote tally built up in the last few weeks of the contest.  I wouldn’t want to bet on the Pro Cup winner yet either and I’ve seen the voting.  This is really fun to watch and we can’t wait until the awards are decided and we can share with the fans just who won each award.”

The winner of the ARP Super Late Model Most Popular Driver Award will receive a complete ABC “Package A” body from ARP Stock Car Bodies.  For more info on ARP or what is included with a “Package A” body, please call 1-888-245-1468.
“We’re very pleased to be working with on this very unique award,” said ARP’s Roy Dies Jr.  “We want to be known as a company who gives back to the racers.  We are a sponsor with so many series out there and we love doing it because it gives something back to those that use our products.  It’s a way to show those people that we really do appreciate their business.”

The winner of the 51 Most Popular Driver award for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series will receive a custom-designed, one-of-a-kind print and their choice of a free t-shirt design or free website design through’s parent company, 51 Sports.

“This award has become pretty special for our teams over the last few years,” said Tony Cox, USAR Series Director. “ has done some good things for the short-track community, and this is one of them. We’re happy to have them host the Most Popular Driver Award for a third-straight season.”

To vote, please log on to and click on the ARP Stock Car Bodies Most Popular Driver or the Hooters Pro Cup Most Popular Driver link.  When voting for the ARP Super Late Model award, please remember to vote for only one driver, and not one driver from each series, or your ballot will be voided.
