Early Response is Overwhelming For Speed51.com Super Late Model MPD Award
ARP Stock Car Bodies Are Making It Happen - And Giving Away a Cool "Trophy"
Need a new body? Better hope that you are a popular racer then.
For the most part, all of the 2007 short track championships have already been decided on the racetrack. The races have been run, the points have been tallied and banquet season has arrived.
There is still one title up for grabs this season thought – the Speed51.com Super Late Model Most Popular Driver Award, presented by ARP Stock Car Bodies. This award will not directly be decided on the racetrack though. Instead, race fans will have their say by voting for their favorite racer at the popular short track racing website, Speed51.com.
Balloting for the award began last week and will run for several more weeks. The early response has been overwhelming.
“There have been so many fans voting for so many different drivers so far, that I don’t think we’ll have a clue who the winner will be until the last ballot is cast,” said Speed51.com Editor Mike Twist. “We knew that this was going to be popular with fans, but I don’t think that we dreamed it was going to have such a large response. It has been great to see the fans get so excited over this.”
Drivers who competed in any one of a number of Super Late Model, Pro Late Model and Late Model tours across the country and were ranked n the top-20 of the point standings in that series by Oct 29 were eligible. A complete ballot is available at Speed51.com.
“We’ve done Most Popular Driver awards in the past, but they have been nothing like this,” said Twist. “Usually fans will choose from one person in a series, but this time it is a true dream team lineup that fans must choose from. We’ve got racers from Florida, racers from Canada, racers from California, racers from New England and racers from the Midwest all going up against each other. It’s pretty exciting.”
However, with all of the choices available, fans need to remember not to get overwhelmed.
“The rules are simple when it comes to casting your votes,” said Twist. “You can only vote for one driver per day. You can’t vote for one driver from each series, or your vote will be disallowed. You can’t use the same computer to stuff the ballot box either. Feel free to come back every day and vote, but if you vote more often than that, your ballot won’t count.”
The winner of the award will receive a complete ABC “Package A” body from ARP Stock Car Bodies. For more info on ARP or what is included with a “Package A” body, please call 1-888-245-1468.
“We’re very pleased to be working with Speed51.com on this very unique award,” said ARP’s Roy Dies Jr. “We want to be known as a company who gives back to the racers. We are a sponsor with so many series out there and we love doing it because it gives something back to those that use our products. It’s a way to show those people that we really do appreciate their business.”
