Speed51.com & ARP Bodies Present Late Model Most Popular Award
Winning Pro or Super Late Model Driver Will Receive a Full ABC-Body from ARP
Chris Gabehart was a former winner of the CRA Super Series Most Popular Driver. Can he beat the best of the rest in the entire Super Late Model world?
During the past couple of years, Speed51.com has become synonymous with Most Popular Driver Awards. The popular short track racing website has worked with a number of series and divisions around the country, including the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, NASCAR Whelen Modified and Whelen Southern Modified Series, the ARCA RE/MAX Series, CRA Super Series and the Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Summer Shootout Series, to honor those with some of the biggest, most dedicated and passionate fans.
Now, Speed51.com is taking the Most Popular Driver Award one step further with the help of Aluminum Racing Products (ARP) Stock Car Bodies. The two will pair up to crown the Speed51.com Super Late Model Most Popular Driver, presented by ARP Stock Car Bodies, at the end of the 2007 season. Pro Late Model Series with ABC-style bodies are also eligible.
The award will be open to a growing number of Pro or Super Late Model Series that compete with ABC-style bodies and will allow one driver to be called the most popular Super Late Model driver in the country. The list will include some of the best from the ACT Tour, ASA Midwest Tour, ASA Late Model Challenge, North and South Series, Birmingham Super Series, the Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway, CRA Super Series, Goodyear Challenge Series, Sunbelt Super Series, Georgia Asphalt Series, PASS North, PASS South, Wisconsin Challenge Series, the Viper Series at South Alabama Speedway and many more.
“We’re very pleased to be working with Speed51.com on this very unique award,” said ARP’s Roy Dies Jr. “We want to be known as a company who gives back to the racers. We are a sponsor with so many series out there and we love doing it because it gives something back to those that use our products. It’s a way to show those people that we really do appreciate their business.
“Super Late Model racing is big for our company. I think it’s big for racing in general. And we’ve seen a growth in Super Late Model racing again as of late. It seems to be on its way back up after being down there for a couple of years. There are larger car counts; there are more races and there are more, better paying events than there were five years ago and that is getting drivers out there. So now is a perfect time for this cool award and Speed51.com is the perfect place to do it.”
To be eligible for the award, drivers needed to be in the top-20 in points in their respective Pro or Super Late Model series by Oct 29. Voting will begin on Speed51.com on Nov. 7 and continue through for several weeks.
The winner of the award will receive a complete ABC “Package A” body from ARP Stock Car Bodies. For more info on ARP or what is included with a “Package A” body, please call 1-888-245-1468.
“Speed51.com is known as being one of the biggest supporters of the short track world and ARP is definitely one of the best companies out there for the racers to work with, so it’s perfect for us to come together on this award,” said Speed51.com Executive Editor and SPEED Broadcaster Bob Dillner. “We love getting involved with the drivers and our most popular driver programs have been big. So to do this award, which doesn’t just focus on one specific series, will be something different for us.
“There are a lot of good drivers out there that have a lot of fans all over the country. Hopefully all of them will get involved with Speed51.com through the ARP Super Late Model Most Popular Driver Award. And it’s great because drivers from ACT and PASS in the northeast can battle with drivers from the Blizzard Series and the Sunbelt Series without being on the track. It’s going to be a really cool deal.”
Speed51.com has become a leader in online Motorsports information by focusing on the Short Track Racing realm. 51 realized nearly seven years ago that there was a void in the industry for news and behind-the-scenes stories. Now, 51 is viewed by thousands of fans per day. The site fuels your Short Track appetite for NASCAR's Grand National Divisions, NASCAR Modified Tours, the USAR Pro Cup Series, and Super Late Models from all across the country and much more.
The award will help pit drivers from ACT (top) against drivers from the Wisconsin Challenge Series (bottom).
