Bob Dillner to Announce, Compete and Coach at Snowball Derby
SPEED Broadcaster to Bring the Action to the Fans and Take Part as a Driver & Car Owner
Dillner will be a special guest track announcer for the 300-lap Snowball Derby Super Late Model event on Sunday, December 2nd for the second straight year at Five Flags.  The night before the SLM race, Dillner will be atop the pit box coaching his 15-year-old BDI Racing Development Driver Zach Stroupe in the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model feature.  Dillner’s weekend will kick off though with a chance to compete on the historic Five Flags Speedway half-mile behind the wheel of the Speed51.com Bomber Stock car.

Bob Dillner will be doing it all during Snowball Derby weekend, but there is nothing else he’d rather be doing at any place else than Five Flags Speedway.

“The Snowball Derby weekend one of the biggest and most prestigious weekends in short track racing so it’s an honor to be part of it,” said Dillner, who just completed the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season last weekend at Homestead Miami Speedway by interviewing champion Jimmie Johnson.  “It’s a really special feeling to be able to bring our team with Zach and the Lone Star Steakhouse #51 Chevrolet to Pensacola and get to compete in a Derby weekend.  Plus it will be fun getting to run a street stock on the

prestigious Pensacola pavement.  And then getting to “call” the Daytona 500 of Super Late Model races will be a great way to wrap up a busy and exciting weekend.”

Dillner is no stranger to Five Flags Speedway.  He has been a frequent visitor to the track over the years; he had covered the action from the Snowball Derby on the website he helped found in 2001, Speed51.com.  He has seen the Snowball Derby from the press box, the pit area and the grandstands, but watching the #51 Chevrolet Super Late Model that he owns with Stroupe behind the wheel will be a career highlight for Dillner.
In his more than 30 years involved in the sport of auto racing, Bob Dillner has done just about everything he has wanted to do.  He has worked his way up through the ranks to become a noted NASCAR broadcaster on the popular SPEED channel.  He has been to victory lane at tracks around the country behind the wheel of various different types of racecars.  He has even taken the love of short track racing to another level by giving young drivers a chance to succeed on the track themselves in cars that Dillner owns and his BDI Racing team prepares.

But never before has Dillner been able to do everything all in the same place during the same weekend.  That will all change during the 40th Annual Snowball Derby Weekend, November 29th through December 2nd at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.

Dillner is a winner on the track on both dirt and asphalt, but a Snowball Derby Bomber Stock victory would be a highlight.
“That’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” added Dillner.  “Zach is a super talented and special kid in my book and I’ve explained to him the magnitude of the Derby weekend.  I got goose bumps when we won at New Smyrna Speedway earlier this year with Zach during Speedweeks and I’m sure I’ll get goose bumps when he takes the green in the Snowflake race.  Whatever the outcome, our Hertz BDI Racing team will have fun and hopefully come away with a good finish.”

Watching the races throughout the weekend will be fun for Dillner, but taking part in them will be an added bonus.

“I don’t know how I’ll do in the Bomber race, but no matter what we’ll all have a lot of fun,” Dillner said.  “Just to say that I raced on the same track that the likes of Derby winners Gary St. Amant, Butch Miller, Bobby Gill and Charlie Bradberry raced on will be pretty special.  But if I don’t do well, I know Zach will probably give it to me good.”
