There are Plenty of Coming Attractions at Five Flags Speedway
Preparations for 40th Annual Snowball Derby; Blizzard Races and ASA Late Model Finale All On Tap
However preparations for the 40th annual Snowball Derby, which runs from November 29th through December 2nd, are not the only happenings at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.  The track is keeping busy by planning for some other upcoming events as well.

“We’ve got a lot coming up that we are excited about,” said track owner Tim Bryant.  “We’re looking ahead to the Snowball Derby of course, but it’s not just about that either.  We still have two more Blizzard Series races coming up and there is a really tight point race going on there.  The ASA Late Model Challenge Series will have their championship decided here as well.  Then we’ll get to the Snowball Derby.  There’s a lot to look forward to.”

Fans and teams can already get a head start on preparing for the Snowball Derby.  Entry forms for the event are available at www.fiveflagsspeedway.com and there’s a good reason to send those in quickly.  Pit stall assignments are based on the date of a team’s official entry into the race.  The sooner the entry, the better the pit.

Between 60 and 80 entries have already rolled in for what promises to be a star-studded field of drivers from across the country.

Advance ticket sales for the Snowball Derby will begin on August 20th.  Bryant reports that ticket renewals are coming in at a quick pace, and the race is on track to having another big crowd this time around.

For the 40th anniversary of the race, there will be a number of special plans for this year’s Snowball Derby.  Final details are being put together on what those will be and announcements will begin to be made regularly starting in early September.
Super Late Models, Pro Late Models and more are on the docket for the rest of the season at Five Flags
In addition, the Blizzard Series point race is shaping up to be one of the best in the track’s history.  Ryan Crane leads Justin Drawdy by only 10 points.  There are only 80 points separating the top five in the standings, and with two Snowball Derby provisional starting spots up for grabs, this is one point chase that everyone wants to do well in.

The next Blizzard Series race at Five Flags will take place on Friday, August 31st.  The ASA Late Model Challenge Series event will take place on September 28th-29th

The top-two in Blizzard Series points at the end of the season will secure exemption into the 40th Annual Snowball Derby November 29th through December 2nd.

Entries for the 40th Annual Snowball Derby, as well as the 100-lap Pro Late Model Snowflake 100, plus the Super Stock, Modified, Bomber and Sportsman features, are available at the official Snowball Derby website, www.snowballderby.com.

It is less than four months time until the country’s biggest asphalt short track race of the year takes place and the momentum for the event is already starting to build like a snowball.
