The historic Birmingham Int'l Raceway will once again place host to the 20th Annual World Classic Super Late Model event paying $10,000 to win for the 150 lap event on Friday & Saturday night September 14-15.
This will be the 20th Annual World Classic that has been run at three different tracks across the southeast. The race has been ran at the Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, GA., and the Mobile Speedway in Mobile, AL., but this year it has returned to Birmingham where it got it's start 20 years ago.
"This is where I started the World Classic back in 1978, so this is where it needs to be it just seems like this is the place it is comfortable in." said Parker. "Don't get me wrong those other tracks are fine tracks and we had some great shows at those places, but for me doing the race I think this is where it needs to stay" Parker said.
A strong field of Super Late Models will be on hand to try and take home the $10,000 top prize as Jeff Fultz of Mooresville, NC. was the first entry received for the event as he took the win earlier this year in the Earlybird 100 at the 5/8ths mile track. More drivers that have entered include Allen Karnes, Augie Grill, Heat Hindman, Stanley Smith, Gary Nix, Nathan Davis., Josh Hamner, Lee Hansard, Andy Antinoro, Chris Serio, Ken McFarland and two time winner Johnny Brazier.
A full weekend of racing will be on hand as the pits will open on Thursday night with a special practice session for all divisions, then on Friday night September 14th there will be practice for all
competing divisions start at 11 am, with qualifying for the Super Late Models and Open Wheel Modifieds and qualifying heat races for the Sportsman, Mini Modifieds, Streets, Buzz and Renegades.
Then on Saturday night September 15th the racing action will star at 5 pm with feature events in the Super Late Model, National Vintage Racing Association, Open Wheel Modified, Sportsman, Mini Modified, Pure Street, Buzz, Renegade and topping the night off with a demolition derby.
