Scott Speed Tests ARCA Car at Rockingham
Former F1 Drivers Is Already Prepping for Carolina 500
Speed was also able to learn a new track during the test session, gaining valuable experience in his Red Bull Toyota prepared by Eddie Sharp Racing. Rockingham marked only the fourth oval that the former Formula One driver has driven on during his career.

"This track is a lot of fun," said Speed. "Rockingham has been a bit more exciting than the other tracks I have run because you have to hustle the car through the corners."

The test was important to Hoosier Racing Tire as well, since the May 4th Carolina 500 marks the first ARCA RE/MAX Series race held at Rockingham since 1973.

Many other ARCA teams are expected to test at the track over the winter months to get a handle on the tough and historical speedway. Even with a 50-car starting field, competition to make the race is expected to be close and exciting.

Former Formula One driver and ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Scott Speed completed a two-day test session at Rockingham Speedway this week in preparation for the Carolina 500, which is slated to roll off on May 4th, 2008. During the test, Speed evaluated tires for the 312-lap race at The Rock - the longest race on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will race on short tracks like Salem and Speedways like Talladega again next season.
