SUMMERS SETS FAST TIME IN SK NATIONALS QUALIFYING by Denise DuPont
25 Entries at Waterford Speedbowl
On Saturday, Waterford Speedbowl (CT) opened its racing season with qualifying for the Budweiser Modified Nationals SK-150. There were 25 SK Modifieds lined up in the pits for time trials.

Robbie Summers captured the Budweiser Pole Trophy in the #11 car. Summers was the fourth car out and he took the pole on his second lap with a time of 14.408 seconds.
The Second fastest time belonged to Rob Janovic Jr. who got around in 14.519 seconds. Third through 10th were James Civali, (14.629, Dennis Charette (16.695, Shawn Monahan (14.728, Jeffrey Paul (14.744, Jimmy Blewett (14.754), Ronnie Yuhas Jr. (14.761, Dennis Gada (14.768) and Frank Ruocco (13.772).
Ted Christopher was 25th in time with the #79 car of John Jensen. The #79 car was running rough as TC completed his first lap. He turned the engine off after passing the start finish line for his first timed lap.
After Time trails, we had an opportunity to speak with Jeffrey Paul. The young driver came in sixth in time trials and helping to develop a crate engine for the division. He has the only one in the field this weekend asked him if the crate engine is living up to his expectations.
"Absolutely,” said Paul. “The key to tomorrow is to survive. My Goal is to finish all 150 laps."
