SPEED51.COM TO GO TRUCKIN' AT OXFORD THIS SUMMER
Mike Twist To Drive #51 Sport Truck at Famed Maine Oval
In most forms of sports, beat reporters are critical of players but rarely put their money where their mouths are.

Speed51.com’s Mike Twist is looking to break that stereotype during the 2005 season by competing in the Summer Racing Series at Oxford Plains Speedway (ME).  Twist will compete in the #51 Sport Truck on Wednesday nights at the historic track.

“When I grew up, the Oxford 250 was the biggest stock car race in the world to me and it still is,” said Twist.  “You could offer me pit passes to Oxford or the Daytona 500 and there is no question that I’d be going to the race in Maine.  I’ll never be as good of a driver as Dick McCabe, Mike Rowe or Dave Dion, but at least I’ll get to race on the same track that they won their biggest races on.”

Twist has been covering the NASCAR Busch North Series, NASACR Whelen Modified Series, PASS Pro Stock Series, ACT Late Models, True Value Modified Racing Series and various New England open shows for Speed 51 during the past year and a half.  Racing at Oxford during the middle of the week will allow him to continue his event coverage through the Northeast.

“Most people work during the week and race on weekends,” said Twist.  “I’m doing things a little bit backwards.  My priority is my writing, so having the opportunity to race on Wednesdays is a perfect fit for me.  I’m really looking forward to having a fun time this season.”

The #51 team is only running a limited schedule of races

in 2005, but has some big plans in store including a special match race on July 20th with details to be announced soon.

“We’ve got some cool ideas that we are working with right now,” said Twist.  “I’d really like to get the Speed 51 name out there and have some fun with the fans.  We are also working on a series of articles on the Speed51.com website where fans will be able to follow along with our ups and downs.”
51 Sports, publisher of Speed51.com, is continually signing up clients for its Sports Services and Web Design work for 2005 and beyond.  51 offers everything from single-time press releases to full campaigns, website development and much more.

In 2003, Twist recorded two top-five finishes and was second in the Mini Truck point standings at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (ME) before a wreck ended his season early.  He also competed in the Enduro classes at New Hampshire’s Star and Hudson Speedways.

The #51 truck will be fielded by Big Mack Motorsports of Lyman, Maine and sponsored by Speed51.com, Hull Automotive, Twist and Son Trucking, BCR Automotive, Speedway Sports Park, Busch North Scene, The Joie of Seating, Simpson Race Products, Dale Averill Designs and Racing Electronics.  Twist will be part of a two-truck team at Oxford this season.  He will be teammates with the #25 truck of Jay Hull.
Speed51.com has become a leader in online Motorsports information by focusing on the Short Track Racing realm.  51 realized nearly five years ago that there was a void in the industry for news and behind-the-scenes stories.  Now, 51 is viewed by thousands of fans per day.  The site fuels your Short Track appetite for NASCAR's Grand National and Elite Divisions, both Modifieds Tours and much more.
The #25 of Jay Hull will be a teammate to the #51 truck.
The #51 has been renumbered from the #70 truck that previously raced at Beech Ridge.  It just got a fresh coat of paint this weekend.  (51 Photos)
